Good Afternoon!

A few housekeeping reminders:

-Tomorrow is PAJAMA DAY! Smile

-If we do not have an update shot record for your child, we will need one by the end of the year! If you’re unsure of the status of the shot record date, please see a teacher. Thanks!

We continued reading, ‘Freckle Juice’ in K group today. A few conversation starters for your K child tonight:

– Have them tell you one ingredient that was in Sharon’s recipe for freckle juice! See how many they can name from memory.

– After drinking the freckle juice, how did Andrew Marcus feel?

-Did Andrew get freckles after drinking the freckle juice?

Before going to the journal table, each friend shared one way that they can be a responsible member of their family!

Social Studies: K.2.4 Give examples of how to be a responsible family member and member of a group.

In PREK2, Miss Kim reviewed some FAB’s that children worked on earlier in the school year. Journal time is becoming one of their favorite moments throughout the day—they are becoming detailed in their journals as well as journaling about various events and people!

The snow and rain kept us inside this morning but we didn’t mind at all! A few of our older friends focused on activities that challenged them such as Ka-Noodle and 48 piece puzzles! Housekeeping was buzzing with two and three year old’s recreating a staple of our morning routine as of late: taking temperatures! Two children were taking each other’s temperatures on their foreheads and one shouted, “You’re 97!”

Good Afternoon!

**With a shortened week due to Thanksgiving, we will have a pajama day on Wednesday!

We decided to dive into a new chapter book this week in K group with one three days until Thanksgiving! Today, we started reading, ‘Freckle Juice’ written by Judy Blume. After we read through two chapters, we examined our arms to see if there were any visible freckles. Friends took it upon themselves to check out each other’s faces to see if there were any freckles there! Smile

In PREK2, children worked together to come up with a list of how they could be a productive member of a group or family.

It was a morning full of intricate building!

Franklin and Sophia worked together to create a notch block tower using a design board. They tried their hardest to build their tower the way the tower appeared in the design picture.

DSCN6699DSCN6721DSCN6723

Mack and Evie built their own creations using the magnatiles. The magnatile towers were detailed and if a magnatile fell over, they picked up their pieces and tried to rebuild it—such determination!

Good Afternoon.

Please Note: Wee Friends is closed this Thursday and Friday for the Thanksgiving holiday!

This morning we engaged in another turkey and feather activity. The glue is a very sticky feeling that some friends just don’t particularly care for, but we enjoy placing the colorful feathers onto our turkey’s.

Good Afternoon and Happy Friday!

With our short three day week next wee in celebration of Thanksgiving  our Wee Wee’s will have a PJ  day on Wednesday, November 25th.

This morning we took a wagon ride around the neighborhood since it was such a gorgeous day. Friends were very excited when they saw the wagons. Smile We also saw many pumpkins and mum flowers. We saw and heard barking dogs and a kitty cat. Of course we saw the ever so poplar train tracks as well…. hoping we would get lucky enough to see a train. Unfortunately, no train came, but we enjoyed our ride none the less.

Happy Friday!

After reading, ‘Slowly, Slowly, Slowly, Said the Sloth’ in K group, we talked about the five vowels at a very fundamental level. There were five words that were on the chalkboard and we worked together to see if we could fill in each missing space with the appropriate vowel. We talked about the sounds that each vowel makes before heading to the journal table to wrap up our week!

K.RF.4.3: Recognize the long and short sounds for the five major vowels.

In PREK2, children used fruit manipulatives to introduce the concept of subtraction. Each child got a turn to roll the dice and whatever number the dice ended on, that’s what they took away from the group of fruit.

DSCN6674DSCN6676DSCN6672

Friends were thrilled to come to the art table and help clean toys using shaving cream! Almost everyone joined in at some point throughout the morning. It was an all-around enticing sensory experience!

DSCN6602DSCN6610DSCN6609

We soaked up the last of the 60’s for the year (most likely!). Several children asked for the bikes out right away—our gross motor gears were grinding!

Good Afternoon!

**Just a reminder that next week will be a short week as we are closed Thursday and Friday. If you are planning for your child to have an altered schedule next week, please let us know! –thanks!

After reading the third and final story in our ‘Miss Nelson’ story in K group, we read five story problems where we had to create our own addition or subtraction problem, depending on the story problem.

Each friend got one story problem to solve. Most friends used their fingers to add up the two numbers while a few tried to solve it in their head!

K.CA.1-2: Solve real-world problems, objects, or drawings that involve addition and subtraction within 10. Demonstrate the equation (e.g., 5= 2 + 3 and 5= 4 + 1).

DSCN6598

In PREK2, children decided to write a letter to a turkey, asking a few questions that they wanted to know!

DSCN6601

Our morning was full of children exploring various parts of the environment.

Older friends showed great interest in drawing so they got out a few sketching books while others occupied the art easel and housekeeping.
