“What we learn becomes a part of who we are.” ~ Pinterest.com

We had a very successful first week back from our vacation.

The children all loved their new outdoor environment and we could tell they all missed their friends and teachers. Smile

“Between the pages of a book is a wonderful place to be.”

What a wonderful day for homemade popsicles! We had fresh strawberries to use up so we used them, along with a few bananas, to make our very own popsicles! Several friends gathered at the island where they helped pour the ingredients into the blender.

Children are continuing to explore the new outdoor spaces, thriving and engaged all morning long. Two of our favorite spaces are:

  • the gross motor area where children can challenge their body by walking on the balance beams, jumping from one cement block to the next, or arranging the wooden loose parts to make an obstacle course.
  • art table! Several materials were added to give us options: chalk, stencils, markers, glue, and foam pieces help us create unique art pieces.

Good Afternoon.

“EVER TIRED. EVER FAILED. NO MATTER. TRY AGAIN. FAIL AGAIN. FAIL BETTER.” ~Samuel Beckett

Today’s quote couldn’t be any better for the activity we engaged in today!

Miss Annastecia filled one cup with water and had another cup empty. Friends would take the filled cup of water and pour it into the empty cup.

This activity utilizes our hand- eye coordination. At times we got the water right into the empty cup, than other times we missed a little or missed a lot! But…. that didn’t matter what-so-ever, we just kept trying and didn’t give up. Smile

This was a fun and easy activity that our friends loved.

Good Afternoon.

“A child’s life is like a piece of paper on which every person leaves a mark. ~Pinterest.com

With the new water table and all the fun water activities your children are enjoying, we ask that you please bring in SEVERAL extra pairs of shorts and shirts! We are definitely getting wet and sandy! Thanks so much.

Today our fine motor, awesome imaginations, color recognition and hand-eye coordination skills were in full force!

Zoe and Daniel painted the morning away with sheer happiness. Daniel even told teachers he made an airplane and a dolphin on his paper.  We LOVE to watch our little ones engaged in their play and show that their abilities are endless.

Good Afternoon!

Meaningful play: What does this look like?

It could start off by a simple question: “Hey Anna, do you want to play family with me?”

It could also involve a child playing by themselves, building an extensive and detailed trio block creation.

It may involve six peers, working together towards a common goal. For example, using wooden blocks to make a castle. This situation usually offers great conversation skills!

These are scenarios that we see every day. Since our environment is a multi-age environment, children often play with peers that are older or younger than they are. The environment can get a little loud at time (a productive loud majority of the time!) but these are times where children make the choice to go do a quiet activity alone. This shows great awareness on the part of the child, knowing they need to disengage from the loudness but yet engage in an activity where they can quietly focus.

Our classroom is made up of three to six year old’s which entails different play levels (parallel and cooperative for example). The level of play for a three year old looks much different than a six year old BUT because these children have the opportunity to play together, the six year old has the chance to showcase what a quality play experience looks like. For example, if there are issues that arise during this play experience, the six year old friend can make sure that they talk through their problems using descriptive language instead of using hands or being physical to solve the problem.

We are lucky enough to see children’s level of play continue to grow day by day, month by month! Red heart

Good Afternoon.

“The mind is not a vessel to be filled, but a fire to be kindled.” ~ Plutarch

We want to welcome our littlest friend, Leo to the classroom.  He is a sibling of our Wee Wee graduate Ruby. Leo is three months old and attending part time for the time being and still does quite a bit of sleeping, so teachers will have to work extra hard on getting some pictures to share.
We look forward to watching Leo grow and achieve all his many milestones.

Today was yet another fun and exciting day to be outside engaging in all the wonderful new activities. We are absolutely LOVING the new and improved outdoor environment.

Later, we enjoyed utilizing our fine motor, hand-eye coordination and sensory skills.

We glued colorful shapes with many colors to see onto construction paper. Our fingers got a little sticky from the glue, but we enjoyed every second of this fun activity.
