Good afternoon.

“Creativity seems to emerge from multiple experiences, coupled with a well-supported development of personal resources, including a sense of freedom to venture beyond the unknown. ~Loris Malaguzzi

Today we decided it would be a great day to get messy with paints and engage in using our fine motor, color recognition, hand-eye coordination and sensory skills. We added in sponges to enhance our play as well.

Good Afternoon!

“We can never have enough nature.”

-Henry David Thoreau

Different forms of nature consumed our morning! Two groups explored nature in various ways.

The farm group set out for a short but muddy walk as we searched for different leaves and twigs on the ground to use for upcoming art projects! We were able to see different animals including chickens, dogs, horses, and goats.

DSCN0685DSCN0681DSCN0705DSCN0707

Children searched the backyard environment for different bugs: rollie pollies, spiders, and ants occupied our bug containers. What a great group activity: searching for bugs together! We often see our older friends assisting their younger peers if they can’t find any bugs.

Good Afternoon.

“Every child deserves a champion – an adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection and insists that they become the best that they can possibly be.” ~Rita Pierson

Today Daniel asked for Mar-Mar to read, We’re Going on a Bear Hunt. Not only did we read this fun, interactive story… we did just that, acted the story out. We all LOVE this story and friends can listen to it many times throughout their day. Smile

DSCN6257DSCN6259

We then decided it would just as fun to cook in the dramatic play center kitchen. Zoe made all kinds of yummy foods while Daniel made Oatmeal with honey.

This activity has multiple learning opportunities. Hand-eye coordination, the use of our imagination as well as fine motor skills.

Then we were off to find… BUGS BUGS and MORE BUGS!!!! This is yet another activity we could engage in everyday and as many times in a day as we possibly can. Having the Wee’s help us makes this hunt session even better!!

Happy Monday!

**Just as a reminder: for the safety of your child, please make sure that a teacher is aware of the drop off/pick up of your child. Along with this, we ask that only parents and teachers open the front door as we need to ensure the safety of all children. Thank you for your understanding!

**Wee Friends will be closed Thursday, June 27th through Friday, July 5th. We’ll reopen on Monday, July 8th.

Today, we welcomed Jack into our classroom! He made the trip across the bridge after breakfast and was able to move seamlessly throughout the environment. We’re so excited that Jack’s here with us!

We read ‘A House for Hermit Crab’ in K/PREK1 which focused around the months of the year. After May had ended in the story, I asked what month came next and several friends shared their thoughts. A few weeks ago, our FAB focused on calendars. We spent some time working with months of the year and in what order they belong.

Afterwards, we made a web where we came up with several places that we go to in our community. Our list grew substantially as friends started telling stories about places they’ve been to before.

Social Studies: K.3.3 Locate and describe places in the school and community.

In PREK2, children used a map to identify places within our environment. Each child identified one space and wrote their name by it.

Good Afternoon!  I can’t believe it is already the last day of May. How the year is flying by!

What a beautiful morning full of sunshine instead of rain.  We decided to spend the majority of our morning outside.  We utilized the art easel to use a variety of colors of  tempera paint with different size brushes to paint beautiful masterpieces.

After painting, we enjoyed a delicious cucumber Wee Sprout snack.

We are SO going to miss the energy, constant smiles, and overall zest for life that Max brings into our environment. Maxwell and his older brother have been staples in our classroom for the last four years. We know you’ll provide your new teacher with smiles, laughter, and joy. You’re a Wee Friender for LIFE!

Good Afternoon.

“There are no seven wonders of the world in the eyes of a child. There are seven million.” ~Walt Streightiff

This morning our fish were quite active in their water home! We all got quite a kick out of watching the three of them go to nose to nose (if you will). They seemed to have all wanted the same piece of fish food that was slowly falling to the bottom of the tank. Daniel told his friend Evie… “Silly Fish.”

We were all happily engaged in coloring in our journal binders today.
