Happy Wednesday!

Can you believe it’s the last day of April ALREADY?!

Friends Henri and Tate got together to play with blocks. After blocks were no longer their interest, it was a kind of ‘I’ll roll on you, you roll on me’ type moment Smile.

Our newly one year olds are becoming more observant in their play. By observing their older friends, Maya and Lucy took their play cars and ‘drove’ them around the room. Our older friends are in the amazing roll of setting the example for our littler friends.

We forgot to feed the fish first thing this morning so as a group, we fed the fish! It was so cool to watch the fish take the food into their mouths. Eren and Nora kept saying, “Look, there!” Eren said, “Put more food in there!” That brought up the conversation of over feeding the fish. We talked about how when we eat too much food we often get a belly ache. Since we get a belly ache from over eating, Eren noted that the fish might get belly aches too.

As we headed outside, we took a walk around the yard. We noticed a LOVELY red tulip. A couple kids spoke up and said, “No touch. Just look. Right?”

IMG_9160IMG_9163

It was a ‘running around’ type of morning. Friends ran their little hearts out while screaming and making different funny sounds. It’s funny when they amuse themselves let alone the teachers Smile.

Our little Wee Wee’s are really starting to navigate the backyard with purpose and confidence. As their confidence grows, they’ll continue to push themselves.

A couple face shots to end the day!

Ice and boiling hot water

What’s the point of creating an ice village if “The Great (boiling hot) Flood of China” doesn’t come to destroy it?

Both indoors and out, friends spent the morning working with the ice village they created this week. The teachers led discussions on temperatures and fractals. Wee Friends imagined the village and the life that inhabited it.

We are repurposing our outside balls. They have made very interesting art.

008

We created more ice houses for our ice village. We poured our “yucky marker” watercolor into several milk jugs, filled them with water and put them into the freezer.

Friends continued to work with the colored water by adding sponges and droppers.

Happy Monday!

Hope everyone had a fantastic weekend!

Nora, Saskia, and Eren started off their week with a little sensory play. They sat at the table while shaving cream was put in front of them on a tray. We added red and blue paint which we found out eventually made purple! Friends loved putting the shaving cream between their hands. It felt so smooth!

Maya and Henri worked with blocks this afternoon. While Henri was working to get himself out of the basket, Maya noticed the camera. Lately, we’re all fascinated with the camera Smile.

Dress up has been a favorite of ours lately. We love working with the hard hats! Today, we did a great job of sharing the hard hats with our friends who wanted a turn.

Have a lovely evening!

WF 4/25 Friday “What the h**l?”

001

There were lots of interesting conversations that happened today, but, by far, the most surprising was when a friend expressed in full voice “What the h**l is the matter with this?” A teacher sitting nearby listened, processed and a couple minutes later reacted.

“Tell me again what you said?”

“What the h**l is the matter here? I heard it on the home improvement show.”

“Ok. Well, usually the word h**l is used by grown ups when they are frustrated or angry about something.”

“Well, I’m definitely angry here.”

I can’t really think of anything else to share. Hope you have a great weekend. –Laurie

Hello!

It was a rather nice morning outside so we took full advantage of it! Outside play provides an opportunity for our friends to interact with older friends next door at Wee Friends. They see old friends and meet new ones. It’s a wonderful mixing pot of personalities and play types. Some kids go hard all the time while others hang back and play quietly. Outside allows us to be free.

Nora started chopping away at the tree stump while Lulu looked on at friends playing in the sandbox. She later joined them!

Eren has been working dilengently on different bikes. First, he started off with the green bike which is called a balance bike. It allows friends to work on their balancing skills by having no pedals. Within the past couple of days, his new challenge is the blue bike (tricycle). The combination of steering the bike and pedaling can often be challenging. While in the backyard this morning, we hear Eren say, “I did it! I did it!” as he’s pedaling along. He got the hang on pedaling and steering. He was SO proud of himself. It’s wonderful to watch a child complete a task while a huge SMILE takes up their face.

IMG_8801IMG_8776

This afternoon, friends worked in the gross motor area where we maneuvered blocks, stairs, and other friends Smile.
