Happy Friday!

Clara played music this morning for her friends. She played the piano with her hands and feet! Children love to experiment with different instruments and how to play them.

007008

Our big friend Sydney read us a story that had us follow directions. Eve followed Sydney’s direction and touched her hands to her feet.

011012

And we’re off! We took a nice long walk. During our walk, we heard birds, dogs, and cars. Our friends were very aware of their surroundings!

013014

We all bundled together and made ourselves comfortable!

013018

Daniel and Clara leaned back to get comfortable and made a P.K. sandwich!

WF Friday 4/5 What is Your True Nature?

007006

008009

An interesting conversation today, after reading “Slowly, Slowly, Slowly” Said the Sloth, had many friends contemplating their True Natures. From the Sloth to The Very Clumsy Click Beetle, page after page of Eric Carle books educate young (and old!) readers about the very nature of living things. “That’s just how I am.” says the Sloth. Likewise, at Wee Friends, in our classroom of 2,3,4 and 5 year olds, we are, minute by minute celebrating and experiencing the very truest natures of our growing peeps! Is it possible not to be living your truest nature from 2 to 5? Happy Weekend.

Wee Sprouts: Sweet peppers. Breakfast: Oatmeal and raisins. Lunch:

Good Afternoon!

As we headed outside this morning, we found out that it was even nicer outside than yesterday! Not only did we love being outside for most of the morning and afternoon but our energy was high which allowed us to take excellent naps. It’s important to get that outside time not only to relieve energy but we get to bond with other children from the Wee house! When asked if he wanted to go outside this morning, P.K. responded with “That sounds fun. I love going outside.” Smile

WF Thursday 4/4 “Step Up Here for Your Tattoos!”

010

…..announced Captain Finn! CF came to school loaded with a slew of tattoos to share with his friends. And some of them were pretty scary. “All the scary ones, I’m giving to me.” he assured us.

028

There were lots of questions about tattoos: “How many days to tattoos stay on?”, “Do tattoos talk?”, “Are tattoos like stickers?” Friends practiced counting to 30 because that’s how many seconds we had to hold the damp towel over the tattoo.

When Ellie walked in today, she smelled like spring! “Mommy put lotion on me.” she explained.

029

Later, Mel continued number recognition and counting with a game of UNO.

037

Debbie worked with a small group on the front porch, discussing turtles. They examined photos of turtles and talked about the shell. We have a jar of three empty turtle shells and friends mused over where the turtles went and why they might have gone.

041

Mel invited friends to the snack table for a taste test. Using carrots, friends dipped into mustard, ketchup, mayo, hummus and yogurt. We charted friends preferences.

088

119

“We got ideas!” shouted Max as he and Elliott built beneath the habitrail.

018

016

After lunch, Mel’s small group read Down by the Cool of the Pool by Tony Mitten. Laurie’s group read Hello, Red Fox by Eric Carle and talked about the word INSPIRE in relation to how Eric Carle discovers story ideas for his books. “What inspires you?” we discussed.

Wee Sprouts: Sweet peppers and carrots. Breakfast: Corn Chex and oranges. Lunch: Farm fresh egg casserole, corn and pear slices. Snack: Yogurt and crackers.

025

Have a great day.

WF Wednesday 4/3

002

This morning, Cassie helped Ben write his name on the message board!

005

We invited friends to listen to Eric Carle’s The Very Clumsy Click Beetle. We studied his illustrations and talked about what a collage is. We decided to create our own click beetle costume and started at the art table with coffee filters and watercolor.

007

Another group of friends decided to build and play beneath a tent.

032

Melinda invited friends to join her in a science experiment that explored what happens when you pour pepper into a bowl of water and then, dip a soapy finger into the pepper water.

037

“It looks like tiny bugs!” is a comment we heard.

049

“It makes a hole!” and “Mine is all the way down!” were other observations.

Lisa Update: Lisa called yesterday morning and spoke to all our friends. She is pain free, she shared! We miss you!

Wee Sprouts: Sweet peppers. Breakfast: Corn Flakes and pineapple. Lunch: Melted turkey and mozzarella on whole wheat tortillas, peas and applesauce. Snack: Peanuts and raisins.

Enjoy your day.

Good Afternoon!

Clara and Emma learned about static today. By rubbing their hair with certain items such as a bouncy ball, they saw that their hair stuck straight up! We rubbed the bouncy ball on our hair a little bit more to see what the affect would be. When we looked in a mirror, we saw that our hair stuck up even more Smile.

001008002

Our friend Sydney helped us set up an obstacle course. We had to follow step by step directions of how to finish the course. It was a lot of fun!

025026027

For breakfast, children had cheesy eggs and oranges. AM snack was corn. Lunch consisted of hummus on whole wheat bread, banana, and mixed vegetables. PM snack was cheddar cheese slices and pretzels.

Have a terrific evening.

WF Tuesday 4/2 Repost with album attached

Happy Birthday, Max! Max turned four on March 31st!

002

Ada put the final touches on her Muppet this am, and as always, this one friend’s interest led to a group sewing bee.

021

Max journeyed through a Wee Friends Rites of Passage today-the workbench! Friends have to be four to handle real hammer and nails and today was his day.

010

Melinda created an alphabet maze for friends to find their way through. The goal was to place letters along the path that opened up at the end.

013

Wee Friends, Wee friends, Mighty Mighty Wee Friends, we play games, we sing songs. Wee Friends, Wee Friends Mighty Mighty Wee Friends, we grow friendships all day long!

Happy Monday!

Today, we welcome our newest addition to our Wee Wee Friend family, Keerthi! We’re excited to get to know her and her family Smile.

003005033

A big theme this morning was throwing our bouncy balls to one another. We worked on hand eye coordination while throwing the ball to our friends. Sydney (Macy’s sister) helped our friends learn how to throw and catch with the big ball today.

010011

Keerthi shared her ball with Clara. Clara responded by saying, “Thank you!”

025018

For breakfast, children had cheerios and banana. AM snack was peas. Lunch consisted of whole grain noodles with tuna and chick peas, broccoli, and pears. PM snack was goldfish and raisins.

WF Monday 4/1

003

036

Macy’s big sisters, Sydney and Taylor, are spending spring break with us! Cassie, too! Our Wee Friends love when visitors are here, especially big kids. Today was no exception as we dove deep into Easter joy with an Easter egg hunt and a song:

“A tisket, a tasket, pass the Easter basket!

Marina’s hands, Sophie’s hands, now who has the basket?”

We worked on using loud, projected voices and the girls answered: “Sophie!” or “Marina!”. They giggled with delight as they heard their own voices reach the rooftop!

We were missing a few sand block letters so Mel invited friends to discover which letters were lost and guess which letters were in the basket.

004

Elliott built a cage. We recorded words he used and then studied those letters. Ada was interested in transcribing Elliott’s Cage Word List.

005033

Puzzle Mania persists!

013

Ada is assembling an Orca Study Briefcase, with all things Orca.

028

The Spring Author Study for our older group will be with author Eric Carle (author of all things earthen and growing! www.eric-carle.com). We jumped into our study today exploring Literacy FAB K.2.3- Generate and respond to questions who, what, where.

041

After lunch, Melinda read Little Tiger’s Big Surprise by Julie Sykes to our younger Wee Friends. When she asked who (like Little Tiger) in the group had a baby on the way, all 5 friends raised their hand: Elliott, Sloane, Leo, Marina and Marta!

Wee Sprouts: Cucumber and carrots. Breakfast: Raisin Bran and pears. Lunch: Whole wheat pasta with tuna, mixed veggies and bananas. Snack: Hard boiled eggs and goldfish.

Enjoy your day.
