Happy Monday!

We’re going to be diving into punctuation and capitalization in K group this week and today, we started exploring the three punctuation marks that we use in our writing and see in the stories that we read. We added onto our kindergarten sign in by identifying the punctuation marks and sorted sentences based on the mark that was used.

When we came to the exclamation point, a friend said, “Like if I said, “I love candy!”. Friends were quick to give an example of a sentence using specific punctuation.

In PREK2, children worked with items and sorted them into the correct categories such as bugs, cold things, and food. They discussed what made the items alike in each category.

Children were quick to come to the art table this morning to explore a sensory experience involving Halloween goodies, various colored liquid, and ladles.

The rest of our morning was consumed with reading books in various spots in the environment and building with wooden blocks before bundling up to go outside.

It is Friday!

Today’s welcome activity was a pumpkin math game. It was our first time doing it, so we just used our spinner to move our players to the next space. It was a good one-to-one correspondence activity. Our twos joined in the game with the help of their older peers.

Our Kindergarteners had a fun sign-in this morning! They went around collecting leaves in their buckets. Once they were done, they had to create a pattern using them. They created a pattern based on size and color. One of our kindergarteners collected enough leaves to spread it out all the way across the deck.

With so many leaves on the ground, the younger WF got out their own buckets to collect them. They were used to make nests and some collected them for pretend food.

Good Afternoon.

We want to wish one of our friends in the classroom a very HAPPY SECOND BIRTHDAY! Smile

This morning we decorated our Halloween ghost with cotton balls.

We used a piece of sticky contact paper to place the soft and fluffy white cotton balls onto. We also took time to pull apart some of the cotton balls to make them smaller so we would have more to place onto the ghost. We had a great experience and lots of fun.

Good Afternoon.

This morning we were engaged in the dramatic play center trying on all of our newly introduced winter hats.

We have silly ones, colorful ones and some with fun tassels that hang down over our ears. What better way to get us geared up for colder weather?!?

Happy Wednesday!

DSCN7760DSCN7749

We had lots of Halloween fun this morning! Ms. Rebekah was kind enough to let us borrow her pumpkin bingo game. A few of our friends had a chance to play a short game yesterday afternoon, so we decided to pull it out again. We had a few more friends come to the table today to enjoy it.

DSCN7753DSCN7751

Our friends have been enjoying creating with playdough so much that we decided to add a few more supplies to see what their imaginations would whip up. We were not disappointed! We had some scary monsters, bone bowls, and meat on bones. They loved showing off their masterpieces to each other and the teachers.

DSCN7795DSCN7796

Both the kindergarteners and Prek2 groups discussed what charts are and what they can be used for. Our prek2 group charted their favorite costume from our Clifford book. We studied our chart to see which costume had the most/least amount of likes.

The kindergarteners created a pie chart today based on how many carnivores, herbivores, and omnivores they had chosen earlier in the week from their dinosaur book. Based on the chart, they could see that most of the selections were carnivores, and the least were omnivores.

Breakfast: Whole grain oatmeal & apples

Lunch: Farm fresh eggs, whole wheat tortilla, carrots/broccoli, & bananas/oranges
