The last few weeks, we’ve said goodbye to several friends. Yesterday, we said ‘see you later’ to Ruby as she headed off to big girl school. Monday, we’ll greet new friends who will join our classroom. Things are changing all around us Smile.

Good Afternoon!

Happy National Relaxation Day!

We took this holiday to heart!

Our quiet time centered around books: in the tent as well as the reading area. There are several occasions where children sit down with a book and simply ‘read’ to themselves. At this age, ‘reading’ can be many things. Most of the time, we see children looking at the pictures and sharing aloud what they see. While they can’t read the words quite yet, they can use the pictures as an aid to explain what’s going on.

While children read to themselves, they are identifying and perfecting different themes of literacy. For instance, turning the pages the right way. Even if they’re not reading at this stage, they are able to identify and exhibit the right way to turn the pages of the book. We talk about the ‘cover’ of a book as well as the ‘spine’.

Good Afternoon.

Caroline and some of her friends are nicely engaged in the Duplo table and the little Duplo people.

This activity enhances fine motor, hand-eye coordination as well as shape and color recognition.

At times, we have to really work with our hands and fingers to achieve getting the Duplo’s and the Duplo people to successfully lock in with the green board. We don’t give up though, we keep trying until we have SUCCESS!!!!

While having a great time during our outdoor play, we found the glue and colorful shapes at the art table. We used our fine motor, hand-eye coordination, and our sharing skills while engaged in this fun and exciting activity. Look for your child’s gluey masterpiece in their art cubbies.

Good afternoon,

DSCN6393DSCN6375

We are going to miss our sweet Anna Girl! She has been such a bright light over the last five years that she has been here. We are sad to see her go, but we know that wherever her journey will take her, she will do wonderful things.

DSCN2710DSCN2724DSCN2711

A few of our friends have turned four in the recent months. Once they are this age, they are allowed to do the woodworking bench. This means they can get out wood, and choose the tools provided on the wall to make unique wood creations. All of them chose to hammer their two pieces of wood together.  It took a lot of work to get their nails in there, but after much perseverance, their hard work paid off.

Once their creations were complete, they got out watercolors and painted them. Franklin asked for the measuring tape to see how long his blocks were. He discovered that they were both 7” long.

“You can learn many things from children. How much patience you have for instance.”
