“If I have two books and a add one more, what number do I have?”

“If you have three cups of hot chocolate and you spill one, how many do you have left?”

“Find number three!”

“Where is number 10? Hop to it!”

These are a few of the questions Jessica asked friends of different ages after she created first, a number grid, then a number circle.

In other parts of the classroom, it was game after game after game. Counting, rolling, balancing and spinning.

Old Play-Do was added to a pony habitat. It became the soil system for trees. And the stem of of a rose.

Happy Monday!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Sometimes when a Wee Friend request Frozen, the teachers freeze. We thaw out in time to support their passion and press play. Today, the Disney phenomena provided us an awesome learning opportunity: two friends, two Elsa dresses. Dresses that were the same but very different. In the midst of the many morning activities, we stopped and compared/contrasted the dresses.  We studied and shared excitement about the dresses’  differences and similarities.

Today has been a busy day full of building houses, Frozen songs, creating Elsa-style capes and more. Yet in the midst of all this joy-filled (and noise-filled) activity, when something catches our attention, we put all of our focus into it.

We concentrate as we sort jewels.

020 024

We give our full attention to figuring out puzzles.

037

We’re engrossed in creating with Magna Tiles.

Good Afternoon!

Maya, Tate, Nahla, and Anna had a fairly quiet day as some of our friends were home trying to feel better and rest up for the rest of the week. Our morning was spent reading teacher stories as well as a little kitchen play and gross motor work.

After breakfast, we turned on some music and made the maracas, drums, and pianos available for friends.

IMG_3454IMG_3457IMG_3465

While Tate was playing in the kitchen, he blew on his bowl and plate and said, “Hot!” He then reiterated this at lunch time as well.

Maya requested ‘The Wheels on the Bus’ and ‘Row, Row, Row Your Boat’ throughout the morning.

Nahla and Anna sat on the floor and moved play cars throughout the environment this morning. A few friends said, “Vroomm!” as the cars were going by.

For breakfast, children had toast with butter and cinnamon along with blueberries, a favorite of ours. Lunch consisted of cheese tortillas, oranges, and broccoli. PM snack was pumpkin muffins and grapes.
