WF Friday 3/14

023

Hello!
May we request that, each week, you bring in a few pairs of extra socks for your Wee Friend? We are optimistic that soon,  we will be spending parts of each day outdoors. Our playground is SO wet and the snow, still so deep.

Also, if you are able, please leave a pair of shoes at Wee Friends so boots are reserved only for our outdoor play. Thanks so much for working with us on these details that make our friends (and teachers!) more comfortable.

Have a great weekend.-Laurie

Wee Sprouts: Carrots. Breakfast: Corn Flakes and bananas. Lunch: Egg casserole with cheese and potatoes, orange slices and whole wheat English muffins. Snack: Monterey Jack cheese and bananas.

Good Afternoon!

Henri and friends read many books today. It was a picture perfect scene. Eren leaning over Lulu’s shoulder looking at a book together made the day! Smile

It was a packed kitchen this morning! Everyone made their own dish with pancakes and birthday cake at the forefront.

The afternoon consisted of building with different kinds of blocks. Nora enjoyed working with triangle soft blocks.

IMG_6262IMG_6260

Maya was crawling, crawling, crawling all over the place! When she wants to go somewhere, she is speedy!

For breakfast, children had toast with butter and cinnamon along with bananas. Lunch consisted of ham and cheese slices along with bread, apples, and corn. PM snack was crackers and string cheese.

Have a wonderful night.

WF Thursday Today’s Great Problem Solve

026

Problem Solving in our Early Childhood environment has many faces. And many moments. From “Flush and Wash” to “That’s MY toy!” to “What letter makes THIS sound?” our days are filled with opportunities to role model positive problem solving.

As such, it’s been 10 days since we began our experiment of soaking carnation- like flowers into colored water. We’ve been waiting. Waiting for the stems to soak up the water and transform the petals! But nothing has happened. So we went back to the drawing board. “Why isn’t it working?” we asked our Wee Friends. “How can we change our experiment to achieve the results we want: multi colored flowers!” So we got to work answering those questions.

And we will wait. We will solve this exciting problem. For there is more magic to make and see and enjoy. Have a terrific day. –Laurie

Wee Sprouts: Cucumbers. Breakfast: Corn Chex and bananas. Lunch: Turkey and ham on whole wheat, pear slices and corn. Snack: PB yogurt dip and graham crackers.

Have YOU enjoyed problem solving today?

Hello!

With the snowy weather this morning, friends came in one by one. It sure was a pretty drive in though. Smile

Even though all of our baby friends aren’t one yet (soon though), they’re starting to play next to one another. Their play doesn’t interact with one another but the proximity to one another has been increasing recently. They’re bonds with one another are growing stronger and stronger.

IMG_6171IMG_6175IMG_6179

The random faces that our friends make throughout the day are FABULOUS! Of the many activities friends participated in this morning, reading books and habitrail play topped the list. The habitrail is becoming a more crowded place as of late since the babies are travelling up there more and more throughout the day.

WF Wednesday 3/12

002

The snow created a slow start today. Friends trickled in and got busy with work and play.

We continue to explore red/green/yellow and what they symbolize on a stop light. We also wrote the words they represent (ex: Go!) Mel invited friends to explore heavy/light objects and the different sounds they create when dropped on a cookie tin. Friends negotiated sharing toys, measured each other’s height and danced to Melinda’s nursery rhyme medley on the piano.

Eren requested his favorite book as of late. We are LOVING Leonardo Smile.

IMG_6064IMG_6063

Smiles lit up our day. Even with the warmer temperatures, it was quite dreary. (However we would much rather have it than snow!)

IMG_6084IMG_6090

Tate: “Henri, I’m so happy to see you. I had a great time on vacation.”

Henri: “I’m so glad!”

(Hugging takes place)

Tate: “Oh..I like your toy!”

Active. Fun. Challenging. We love the habitrail!

(to the tune of ABC’s)

“Red light, red light, stop, stop, stop.

Green light, green light, go, go, go.

Yellow, light, yellow light, slow the car down.

Yellow light, yellow light, slow the car down.

Red light stop and green light go.

Yellow light, yellow light, slow, slow, slow.”

We are spending time this week identifying common signs and symbols (Literacy FAB K.1.21). We also spent time today talking about patterns. First with foam blocks, then with Do-A-Dots.
