Happy Monday!
This week, we’re going to be diving into important parts that make up a book: characters, setting, and events. We used ‘Room on the Broom’ for kindergarten sign in since it’s one of our favorites! Each kindergartener wrote a few characters in the story, where the story took place (setting), and one event that occurred in the story.
K.RL.2.3: Identify important elements of the text (e.g. characters, settings, or events).
The kindergartener shared what they did for their sign in activity since the theme continued into K/PREK1 group. We read, ‘The Kissing Hand’ and after we were done reading, we talked about the three things that make up a story: characters, setting, and events. When we got to events, I asked for two events that occurred in the story and I was told four events that happened!

The light table was a busy space this morning when Miss Kim got it out. Children used simple shapes to make more complex shapes.
Breakfast– Whole wheat bagel with peanut butter and fresh oranges.
Lunch– Whole wheat noodles with butter and red beans, fresh watermelon, and fresh cherry tomatoes/cucumbers.
PM snack– Whole milk yogurt with granola.
Wee Sprout– Fresh cherry tomatoes/cucumber (from Daniel’s garden at home!).
Have a lovely evening!
