Good Afternoon!
We focused on animal habitats for our PREK1 sign in this morning. Children chose a notecard that had an animal written on it. They had to tape their animal under the appropriate habitat, They had to sort the animals between three habitats: polar habitat, rainforest, and desert!
Science K.4.1: Give examples of plants and animals.
We continued to explore animal habitats beyond sign-in with some imaginative play experiences. Three trays were offered, each with a different habitat and different animals that fit into that habitat. Kids chose from a desert, ocean and pond environments to play. We talked about how different kinds of animals need different kinds of habitats to thrive. Many of our kids chose to explore the trays in pairs which was great for their social emotional development.
In the art center, kids explored a variety of water color techniques like water spray/water color and salt/watercolor. The kids enjoyed watching how the water color reacted with the salt and how it moved on the paper when sprayed. We always love the opportunity to mingle the experimental/observational aspects of science with visual process art.
We hope you enjoy a few more pictures from our day!
