Happy Friday!
We ended our week talking about weather for each season! PREK1 kiddos came to the sign in board where they took pictures with weather related images and sorted it into the correct season. Each season board ended up with six images.
Science: K.3.5 Describe and give examples of weather changes and illustrate how weather affects people and the environment.
We enjoyed several child lead activities this morning! One friend asked if we could do some weather experiments since big kids have been talking about weather during group. We tried an experiment with warm and cold water to show how warm and cold air acts in the atmosphere when thunderstorms form. We also did the rain cloud experiment, back by popular demand :).
We worked on another child lead project in our outdoor art center. This project started yesterday when kids were exploring a water table. We had added flowers for interest. One friend took the flowers and placed them in a strainer. He dumped water through the strainer saying he wanted to see if the flowers would color the water. Today, we tried making pigment using flowers and leaves. We found we could use mallets or sticks to crush the natural materials on our paper and create natural pigments. We always do our best to support these moments of curiosity that drive kids to want to explore. Asking questions and then experimenting through trail/error to further explore is the process of deep learning. This is how kids learn to love learning!
