Good Afternoon!

It was such a nice morning that our two kindergarteners went outside to complete their sign in! We played a game titled, ‘Community Helper Bingo’! We did one round and when we were done, they each drew their favorite community helper on their sign in page. Student A and Student S said their favorite community helper is a veterinarian but Student S said that she prefers vets who work with dogs, cats, and bunnies while Student A said he prefers vets who work strictly with turtles!

Social Studies: K.2.1 Give examples of people who are community helpers (inside the classroom and outside the classroom) and describe how they help us.

For PREK1 sign in, children were asked to write one community helper. Eliza put her kid spelling skills on display as she wrote School Bus Driver!

Our younger friends have been working hard at journal time in the afternoon.  Kids find their name in the name basket.  A teacher writes it out for them, spelling it out verbally letter by letter. Next, kids draw a picture and a teacher writes as they talk about their drawings.

Kids have been very interested in making costumes out of paper this week.  One of our kindergarteners got the project started and many younger friends have followed suit.  Our kindergarten friend has been very open to sharing her ideas and allowing younger kids to help with her projects which has encouraged them to make their own.

Several kids requested some music this morning.  One request was the song, “red light, green light”.  A group of friends wanted to play this musical movement game together, stopping and starting when the song said.  We added some interesting obstacles to create a more challenging gross motor exercise.
