Good Afternoon!

We kicked off our morning in kindergarten by continuing to discuss community helpers. Today, we focused on tools that helpers need to do their jobs. Student A and Student S worked to match a tool to the correct community helper. Student S shared that she has a veterinarian kit at home so she knew several different tools besides a syringe that a vet uses!

Social Studies: K.2.1 Give examples of people who are community helpers (inside the classroom and outside the classroom) and describe how they help us.

For PREK1 sign in, children came to the board where they were asked to choose one notecard that had a tool written on it. There were three options to match it to. Eliza chose the card that had ‘hose’ written on it. She matched it to a firefighter. Eliza has started reading so instead of reading the card for her, she worked to read the card before matching it to the helper. In situations like this, it’s important to scaffold for children who are ready for more challenging work. We’re always evaluating children’s readiness as well as their developmental level so we make sure that children are always challenged.

Our new magnatile cars continue to be the talk of the building rug! It opens up a whole word of possibilities for magnatiles as it makes them mobile.

With the looming storms this afternoon, we made sure to get a little extra outside time this morning. As we were getting things out of the garage, friends asked for the traffic signs so we made those available along the bike path! Kids worked great together taking turns and making sure that everyone was following the correct road sign! A friend even started giving the sign holders a tip Smile.
