Good Afternoon–
Our PREK1 sign in focused on creating complex shapes using simple two dimensional shapes. One child took two triangles and made a square. He used a marker to trace the new shape which was a square!
K.G.4: Compose simple geometric shapes to form larger shapes (e.g. create a rectangle composed of two triangles).

In group, we read ‘In My Heart’ which is a book from our MACK collection. Our MACK curriculum stands for Mindful Attention with Curiosity and Kindness. We have a collection of books that are broken down into five areas over a twelve week cycle. Today’s book focused on identifying emotions in ourselves as well as others. When we were done, each friend got a turn to share the emotions that they were feeling.
We offered some sorting activities that were also open-ended for kids to explore creatively. Kids sorted by shape, size and like-objects. They also created imaginative games and narratives. They built patterns, gardens and their social emotional skills through cooperation and the exchange of ideas.
We hope you enjoy a few more pictures.
PREK2: During group, we read the social emotional story “I Can Handle It”, which teaches kids ways to deal with difficult emotions. Kids came up to the board after group to practice shape recognition. Kids were asked to find their shape by name and color, then add their name next to that shape.
Breakfast: Puffins cereal with fresh pears.
Lunch: Peanut butter on whole wheat tortilla, cheddar block cheese, fresh cantaloupe/bananas/pineapple, and fresh green peppers/cucumbers.
