Good Afternoon!

We kicked off a new week of FAB’s! Our PREK1 kiddos came to the sign in board where we started talking about word days like morning, afternoon, and night. We always associate food with days and day words so friends were asked to write a breakfast food that they have in the morning. Our kindergarteners wrote or drew something that they do in the morning, afternoon, and evening.

In PREK1 group, we read ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ which focused on the days of the week as well as introducing events that take place in an orderly fashion such as the days of the week! It was a great introduction into understanding that some things take place in a sequence. A friend raised their hand and said, “Just like a caterpillar turning into a cocoon and then into a butterfly!”—exactly! Smile

K.1.4: Identify and order events that take place in a sequence.

K.M.2: Understand concepts of time, including: morning, afternoon, evening, today, yesterday, tomorrow, day, week, month, and year. Understand that clocks and calendars are tools that measure time.

This morning, it became clear, that Halloween was the interest of the day!  We changed the classroom over to a Halloween theme with new books, costumes and activities including ‘Starry Night Halloween’ playdough.

PREK2: During group, we read the book “My Monster Mama Loves Me So”.  At the end, we tried to recall something from the story that Mommy monster did.  This helps with focus and comprehension as kids listen, then recall information from a story.
