Good Afternoon!

Mack and Evie were asked to write each season on their kindergarten sign in. They worked on letter identification and sounding out words using kid spelling.

Science: K.3.5 Describe and give examples of weather changes and illustrate how weather affects people and the environment.

After we read, ‘The Tiny Seed’ in K/PREK1 group, we gathered in a circle to play a matching game. Each friend picked one card at a time and had to determine what season the image went into. For example, there was a picture of a family at the beach while friends decided should go onto the summer sheet.

There were several children who explored the rubber band activity this morning. Bo made different designs and shapes with his rubber bands while Maggie made straight lines with her bands!

We were able to go outside (YAY!) even though it was a bit chilly. We can’t wait for it to warm up and get outside to plant our veggies.

Good Afternoon.

Today we engaged in a fun sensory activity…Playdoh. Friends love to roll, cut, use cookie cutters to make specific things and of course use the golf tee’s We let our imaginations run wild.

An older friend said that she made a planet. So we talked about the different planets and that they are up in space way past the clouds. I then, googled pictures of the planets to show them and we practiced saying all of their cool names.

IMG_4915IMG_4913

Then another friend asked to get down the “white thing.” The white thing is the sheer curtain that hangs from the hanging rod. They love to be silly and feel the curtain on their faces.

Happy Monday!

After reading a fitting story for today titled, ‘Snow’, K/PREK1 group members told me what the four season were called (in order!). After I wrote the seasons, we went one by one and children shared what they associate each season with.

Tomorrow, they will get to do a matching activity focusing on the four seasons.

Science: K.3.5 Describe and give examples of weather changes and illustrate how weather affects people and the environment.

IMG_5968

In PREK2 group, children used cardboard tiles that had weather related images on them. They chatted about the weather images and what season they may fit into.

It was a musical Monday!

Right after breakfast, Millie asked if we could get out instruments! Several children gathered on the music rug to explore various instruments including drums, tambourine, melody harp, accordion, and a big maraca.

Children worked on beats and repeating of patterns. They followed a teachers lead while also making their own beat pattern.

Happy Thursday!

Evie and Mack chose a fresh flower from a bouquet that I brought in. They broke apart the flower and glued each part to a piece of construction paper. As they glued the pieces, they identified what the part of the flower was called.

IMG_5767IMG_5770IMG_5777

We had a huge collection of stuffed animals so today, each friend got to chose one to take home and care for.

As they picked their animal, they had to identify what the animal ate and whether or not it was a herbivore, carnivore, or omnivore.

IMG_5800IMG_5798IMG_5795

We headed outside this morning and Miss Annastecia painted our nails! Each friend got to chose their own nail polish. What better combo than nails and pajamas?!

IMG_5842IMG_5850IMG_5854

Miss Kim made a special snack for us that is a well known Passover dish. We loved it!

Good Afternoon.

WF/WWF WILL BE CLOSED TOMORROW IN OBSERVANCE OF GOOD FRDAY.

Emily and Arthur enjoyed walking on the circular sensory steps today! Each circle has a different texture that friends can feel as they walk across them. We can also work on our color recognition with this fun activity.

IMG_4822IMG_4821

This friend thought it would be a great idea to put a large ball underneath her shirt to have a “baby” Smile

IMG_4824IMG_4825

We then went outside for a while to enjoy the wonderful sunshine and of course the…blustery wind. Some friends enjoyed the wind, others weren’t too fond of it! But we ALL loved the sunshine.

Good Afternoon!

**Given we have a short week this week, we will celebrate by making tomorrow PAJAMA DAY!

We read, ‘How Do Apples Grow’?’ in K/PREK1 group. It was very informative, offering up things that we didn’t know about the process in which apple trees grow.

When the story was over, each friend chose two notecards. One card had the name of  an animal while the other card was some kind of plant or tree. They had to share one similarity and one difference when comparing the two things.

For example, Evie chose chipmunk and maple tree. She said the similarity was that they both need water to survive while a difference is that chipmunks can run and trees cannot!

Science: K.4.1 Observe plants and animals, describing how they are alike and how they are different.

IMG_5744

In PREK2 group, children brainstormed about plants. They shared every bit of information they knew about plants and Miss Kim wrote it down on the whiteboard.

IMG_5747IMG_5745

An art activity was made available this morning that centered around plants (which continued throughout most of our morning!).

Three of our plants were front and center on the lazy Susan. .

The first step was for children to draw what they saw using a pencil.

IMG_5694IMG_5698

Once their pencil drawing was complete, they were given a black sharpie marker to outline their drawing.

IMG_5672IMG_5686

The last step was water color! Children used a variety of water colors to paint their plants based on what they saw.

All of our drawings came out absolutely amazing and they all looked completely different! Children really took their time and used details in their creation.

IMG_5671IMG_5678

The sign in question of the day asked children to guess how tall the tallest bean plant was today. Children wrote their name under their guess before a few friends measured it using a ruler.

IMG_5727

Mack and Evie worked together to figure out how tall the plant was: it  measured in at 10.5 inches! A few friends helped out by watering the plants. They take this job VERY seriously.

IMG_5729IMG_5731

Breakfast– Whole Grain Oatmeal with cinnamon and banana.

Lunch– Farm fresh scrambled eggs with shredded cheese, whole wheat bread/tortilla, fresh cantaloupe/banana, and fresh cucumber/broccoli/cauliflower.

PM snack– Pretzels and raisins.

Wee Sprout– Fresh cauliflower/broccoli.

Have a wonderful night.
