Good Afternoon and Happy Friday! I hope you all have had a great week.

Today we painted at the easel and with toothbrushes. This is a very different painting object than what we used too, but we loved it! We used blue, green, red and yellow colors for our masterpieces.

IMG_1420IMG_1416

We also engaged in the moon sand sensory table.

Good Afternoon!

**The conference scheduling form is due tomorrow, Friday January 28. Thanks!

Evie had four problems in her kindergarten sign in. Each question required her to draw a shape with a specific number of sides. She had to draw a shape with zero sides, a shape with three sides, a shape with four equal sides, and a shape with four sides that weren’t the same length.

K.G.2: Compare shapes using informal language to describe their similarities, differences, and parts (e.g., number of sides, length of sides, and vertices).

IMG_1684

After reading, ‘Small Pig’ in K/PREK1 group, we used shape cards to steer the direction of our group. I went first and explained what the activity entailed. Each friend got a chance to do at least one card. On the card, it shows what shapes you need to complete the problem. Daniel had to get six triangles so that he could form a new shape: a hexagon! A few of the other problems we solved were: two squares creating a new rectangle as well as two triangles and two rhombuses to create a new hexagon.

When we were done, Evie asked, “Are there more cards?!”—so we plan on exploring the rest of the shape cards later this afternoon!

K.G.4: Compose simple geometric shapes to form larger shapes (e.g., create a rectangle composed of two triangles).

IMG_3836IMG_3828

IMG_3824IMG_3826

In PREK2 group, children discussed story order before heading to the journal table.

IMG_1731IMG_1729IMG_1727

Rowan and Nesta explored activities by themselves this morning before getting together later in the morning to dive into cooperative play and a short stint in the reading area. Rowan has been enjoying the drawing/sketch books at the art table while Nesta requested the light table in the science area. She chose a variety of manipulatives including colored hexagons that she used for various patterns.

IMG_1667IMG_1661IMG_1718

A few friends compared their ‘muscles’ this morning. Daniel shared that he worked out yesterday while he was home and was quite excited to show his muscles to his peers.

..thankfully we eat a ton of vegetables that help our muscles grow!

Good Afternoon.

This morning while Miss Annastecia was in our classroom, she brought over her yoga activity game.  Friends were pretty excited to roll the dice and see what position they needed to move and stretch their bodies to. They had a GREAT yoga session with much enthusiasm.

Arthur enjoyed the wooden popper sticks activity. He utilizes his hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills to place the colored stick into a hole in the wooden base. giving a small amount of pressure the stick will pop out if its hole. This activity can also enhance a child’s color recognition and matching skills.

IMG_1326IMG_1327

When Miss Annastecia was getting ready to leave our classroom andgo to the preschool classroom, friends wanted to give her a hand slap (five) as she was exiting.

Good Afternoon!

In K/PREK1 group, we read ‘Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs’ which is one of our favorite fiction stories! Children love to fantasize about food falling from the sky as well as sharing what foods they would pick for each meal.

An activity was done in PREK2 group that focused on the story, ‘The Rabbit Listened’. There were several animals that were identified in the story so after the story was done, children put the animals in order for which they appeared in the story!

IMG_1519IMG_1523IMG_1524

At the art table, friends got to paint ice in circular trays! They used a variety of water colors. Everyone had a different takeaway from seeing watercolors on the ice.

As the activity went on, the ice transformed and started to melt. This resulted in children commenting on the properties of ice and how easily the ice was broken since it had been sitting out. A group of friends talked about what would happen if hot water was poured on the ice melt. A simple art exploration turned into a science experiment that prompted conversations about the properties of water!

IMG_1428IMG_1436

IMG_1452IMG_1444

Children gathered on the building rug which was transformed to the yoga rug! Miss Annastecia brought in yoga dice from home. Each child was given a turn to roll the yoga dice to determine what pose the group tried next. The pose that was most challenging was ‘Cowface’. Cowface required children to sit straight up with their legs crossed over each other while bent. They had to take their arms and try to connect them behind their back (one arm over shoulder and one under)—it was challenging for all of us!

Lunch– Peanut butter sandwich on whole wheat bread, string cheese, fresh watermelon, and fresh cucumber.

PM snack– Whole wheat english muffins with cream cheese and sliced colby jack cheese.

Wee Sprout– Fresh cucumber.

Have a wonderful night!

Good Afternoon.

Today we engaged in many different activities that kept our day very busy! We played in the  moon sand that is ohhhh so soft! During this activity we can scoop,  pour and even clean up any sand that falls to the floor. Our two year old’s LOVE cleaning up the sand.

IMG_1138IMG_1137

IMG_1155IMG_1191

Then we had fun “skating” on paper plates while listening  to the song, Listen and Move by Greg and Steve. Friends are encouraged to follow along with what the narrator of the song is asking of us. We had a great time. Smile

IMG_1205IMG_1204

IMG_1182IMG_1180

Emily enjoyed our colorful bucket people loose parts activity this morning. She can take the little person with their specific color and match it with the same color bucket. We can also work on her knowledge of the colors.

IMG_1110IMG_1109

We then engaged in the Roll and Race activity. There are different colored and textured ramps that friends can race their cars down. We talked about if the cars made different sounds as they zoomed down the tracks and if one track made the car goes at a faster or slower pace.

IMG_1211IMG_1215

Breakfast: Whole grain Cheerios and Apples.

Lunch: Whole wheat tortilla with refried beans and shredded cheddar cheese, sweet potatoes and apples.

Snack: Whole wheat English muffin with butter and cinnamon and watermelon.

Good Afternoon. I hope you all had a great weekend.

Our two friends were happily engaged in dramatic play this morning. They both took turns covering one another up with a silky “blanket” to go night-night.

IMG_1074IMG_1075IMG_1078

Emma really has been showing a lot of interest in sitting on the rocking chair. Teachers help her up into the chair and then she happily rocks herself. She really gets her body moving so she can feel the chair move. Smile

IMG_1093

Emily was working hard while concentrating on placing the large beads onto the balancing structure today! While working on her hand-eye coordination to get the beads onto the sticks she can also start to understand the color of the beads.
