Happy Birthday Miss Rebekah! Smile Smile Smile We hope you have a fantastic day.

“Sometimes the smallest things take up the most room in your heart.” ~Winnie the Pooh

Today Daniel and Evie decided to manipulate the Duplo blocks and build many fun things. Evie used her wonderful imagination and made a “Palm Tree Truck.” She was very happy about her creation and couldn’t wait to share what she had made with Daniel and her teachers. The imaginations of our friends never ceases to amaze me! LOVE LOVE LOVE!

We then moved into the kitchen area where we manipulated  two different colors of playdoh. We used the many playdoh knives, cutters and rollers to make our playdoh creations. Today was all about CREATIVITY!!!!

Happy Tuesday!

After reading a ‘Frog and Toad’ story that centered around counting by 10’s, we got out our laminated counting sheets where friends each got the opportunity to work on their counting by 10’s skill set. Lucy asked to go first which allowed her younger peers to observe Lucy count.

The farm was quiet. Running was had. Flowers were picked. Animals were fed said flowers. A wonderful morning was had by all.

Meanwhile, a group of children listened to one of our favorite Robert Munsch stories, ‘Too Much Stuff!”. More and more children came to listen which turned into a great literacy opportunity.

Several friends chose to come to the art table and create with pipe cleaners and beads. This is a simple yet super popular fine motor activity for all ages! Our older friends often incorporate patterns into their pipe cleaner creations.

HAPPY 5TH BIRTHDAY TO PENNY! We so enjoyed spending your birthday with you! Red heart

Mr. Rogers wrote:

“There would be no art . . . if human beings had no desire to create. And if we had everything we ever needed or wanted, we would have no reason for creating anything. So, at the root of all art . . . there exists a gap — a gap between what the world is like and what we wish and hope for it to be like. Our unique way of bridging that gap in each of our lives seems to me to be the essence of the reason for human creativity.”

Everyday, children occupy the art table space to either create a drawing for their mommy or daddy, for their friend, or simply for themselves. There is always time for a drawing in the eyes of a child.

We fill our art table area with several different choices that children make: markers, feather, caps, crayons, paint dotters, and stickers to name a few. The art area is one of the areas where we get to see children’s personality, creativity, and social skills.

Just a friendly reminder as our summer vacation time is quickly approaching, WF/WWF will be CLOSED beginning next week Thursday the 27th through July 7th. We will reopen on July 8th!

Our little ones always love it when a teacher from the preschool site comes over to play with us.

This morning Miss Mindy came over for a short visit and was quickly engaged with two of our little guys manipulating the wheel and connector activity. Thank you Miss Mindy for playing with us. Smile

Today we engaged in a fun shaving cream sensory activity that quickly lead into something a little more than just feeling the cream. We added in cars and trucks and big buckets with water in them for a car/truck wash.

We painted the trucks and cars and got them all dirty and messy, then put them into the water to get them all nice and clean again. Super Duper Fun Times Smile

Good Afternoon!

Yesterday in K/PREK1, we each came up with one spot in the community that we’d like to add to our map. Today, we constructed that map by each friend choosing a space where they’d like to put their establishment. After each square was occupied, I gave each child a different colored marker and they had to follow the lines from the Wee Friends house to their specific spot! There were a few spots that required friends to stop at the stop signs!

Social Studies: Create maps 2 dimensionally and 3 dimensionally.

In PREK2, children answered the question, “If you could travel anywhere, where would it be?”—the three choices were Walt Disney World, camping in the woods, and the ocean. What a wide variety!

DSCN2415DSCN2417

Several children occupied habitrail while exploring a science experiment that was created. Using a dixie cup, balloon, tape, and a cotton ball children set off exploring. When they pulled the balloon back, the force from the balloon shot the cotton ball into the air.

Pretend play combines two wondrous and uniquely human characteristics—the capacity for fantasy and the capacity for, and need to, make meaning of our experience.”

Good Afternoon.

Today Miss Rebekah hummed a tune and asked friends what song they heard from her humming. Evie was concentrating on the tune but Miss Rebekah could see a little more prompting was needed to fully know what the tune was, so she used her arms in the motion of rowing. Evie quickly guessed, Row Row Your Boat and she was right.

Then Evie and all of her friends turned the big blocks upside down and pretended they were in a boat rowing all while singing the song. Smile
