Happy Monday!

Hope everyone had a terrific weekend.

Friends gathered around the art table as markers and paper were made available upon request. We focused intently on our vision and what we wanted our finished product to look like. Each child’s process to get to the end was different.

It was the morning of Wee Friends creatures! A yellow caterpillar was found! Friends made a habitat for it and walked it around the yard making sure to show every single friend.

Someone shouted, “Look! There’s a blue butterfly!” A group followed the blue butterfly around the yard until it eventually flew out of the yard.

WF Monday 8/3 Freshly-Squeezed Orange Juice

This afternoon for snack we did something a little different. Instead of having orange slices, we decided to make orange juice! First, we cut the oranges in half. Then we squeezed as much juice as we could out of the oranges before pouring it into our glasses.

Besides challenging our small motor movements, this work provided an opportunity for friends to take a close look at oranges. We compared what the orange looked like before and after we squeezed and noticed how sticky your hands get when working with oranges. This experience also prompted many conversations about pulp and seeds and answering “what happens if you drink a little bit of a seed?!”

031028029

Making orange juice takes a lot of concentration!

The results were delicious!
