“What is this?”
This was our morning discussion. We created paper and salt dough fruit to add to it.
We read lots of books and asked lots of questions. After The Three Little Pigs, a few friends built a house of bricks. After jamming out to Five Little Monkeys, we read two versions of the book and compared and contrasted. We got outside before the sprinkles. Hope you are having a great day. –Laurie
Wee Sprouts: Cucumbers. Breakfast: Raisin Bran and oranges. Lunch: Hummus on whole grain flatbread, broccoli and strawberries. Snack: Peanuts and bananas.
Good Afternoon!
Friends had the opportunity to paint this morning.
We saw many different strategies. There was the ‘try to take up as much paper as possible’ strategy. One of the most popular was ‘only sticking to one area of the paper’ strategy. However our friends completed their painting session, they explored many areas of interest such as sensorial.
Maya kept saying, “WOW!”, when she got a lot of paint on her brush. When Lucy was on her last painting, she decided to dive in with her hands! She found it quite humorous that there was paint on her hand. Tate’s first instinct is to go straight for the mouth. He had a great sensorial experience as he painted both of his hands green!
Nahla and Saskia both loved to work with different colors of paint. When they felt like they were done with a certain color, they would raise their bowls and say “more”. They both decided to take advantage of the big paper that they were given.
It was a GORGEOUS morning.
We were literally all smiles.
For breakfast, children had kix and banana. Lunch consisted of scrambled eggs, mixed vegetables, whole wheat bread, and banana. PM snack was whole wheat crackers with hummus.
Have a lovely evening.
How do you make a peanut butter sandwich?
How do you pop a balloon?
We asked these questions and created lessons around our weekly Literacy and Math FABS. We listened to EXACTLY what each friend said and executed their idea, just as they stated it.
“Put the peanut butter on the bread.”
HOW? Power. The very first exercises in learning how to communicate clearly and intentionally.
Have a great day. –Laurie

Our Monday started off with stories. A few groups were going as children were listening to Miss Marty read as well as our IUSB student Victoria.
Saskia was quite impressed with the amount of leaves in the backyard. She shuffled her feet as she ran, knocking the leaves up into the air!
A little snuggle time took place during naptime as Anna started off with laying by Annabelle and then proceeded to move and read books with Tate.

This is what got Melinda and the Wee Friends rolling.
What is this and what do you do with it? Friends reasoned out loud and Melinda followed their directions precisely as they stated them.

Although we couldn’t have our Halloween Parade outside, that didn’t stop us from having a lot of fun indoors.
First—a runway show down the “red carpet” to share our amazing costumes with our friends.
Second—A Halloween Parade inside Wee Friends! We marched to spooky music all around the house, led by our fearless leader Elliott aka “No Noggin”.
The excitement of putting on costumes, marching, twirling, swirling, and clapping made Wee Friends an energy-filled place this afternoon! We hope you have a safe and warm Halloweekend.
