Good Afternoon!

**If everyone could make sure that each day their child has the appropriate coat as well as hats, gloves, shoes, etc. for the weather, we’d greatly appreciate it! Smile–we want all of our friends to be snug as a bug in a rug (and warm).

Today, we wished Rosemary Jane a very happy 1st birthday! We love you!

Anna was all over the place today. She’s working on going from the sit up position to her crawling position. She’s starting to put one hand in front of the other and move forward Smile. It’s making her quite happy!

All we could say this morning was, “Burr!” It was quite chilly outside this am. So much so that we headed inside a little earlier than usual. However, we still got quite a bit of vitamin D and fresh air always does us good!

For breakfast, children had toast with cream cheese and banana. Lunch consisted of scrambled eggs, broccoli, and banana. PM snack was thin rice cakes with hummus.

Have a terrific evening!

WF Fall & Farm, 10/22/14

093

Fall.  It’s all around us.  Today, while moving slowly through the farm prairie, our children explored bursting seed pods that took flight from their hands, they dominated the dry crisp towering plants that crunched and bent to the will of their little bodies while stealing their boots and they breathed the cool fresh air that invigorated their lungs and teased their noses with autumn scents.  They were ALL in…mind, body, & little spirits.

**ON HALLOWEEN, Friday, October 31st, weather permitting, PARENTS ARE INVITED TO ATTEND our annual neighborhood Halloween Parade around the block.  It will begin at 3:30.  Children are welcome to bring their costumes to WF and we will help them dress after snack to be ready for our parade!  (For any child not dressing at home this year, no worries, we have plenty of WF costumes that they can use for our parade.)

Breakfast was PB on brown rice cakes and fresh strawberries.

Lunch was farm fresh eggs scrambled, banana, steamed cauliflower with cheese, and whole wheat flat bread.

Snack will be whole wheat crackers and black beans.

Enjoy this glorious fall day!

Hello!

Friends got out the colored blocks this morning and worked on jumping off of them. We worked on our timing, coordination, and leg muscles!

IMG_0966IMG_0968

It was definitely a fall morning outside. Maya balanced on the logs while Nahla and Lucy hit the sand box and rocks right when they got outside.

IMG_0978IMG_0985IMG_0993

Anna practiced sitting up today. Her balance is getting better every day! Annabelle is reaching to her sides when she lays on her back. She’s going to be rolling over pretty soon.

IMG_0997IMG_1006

They definitely made a special connection this morning while their older friends were outside playing. It’s always amazing to watch children as young as a couple of months interact with their friends.

Tate was in the hug giving mood this afternoon.

For breakfast, children had Chex and banana. Lunch consisted of ham and cheese tortillas, cooked zucchini, and pears. PM snack was string cheese and whole grain bunny crackers.

Have a lovely night!

WF 10/21 Tuesday

Operation Farm Wednesday 10/22 (for Group A) is a go. This includes: Ellie, Elizabeth, Hazel, Sophie, Elliott, Aislinn, Sloane, Owen, Daniel and Emerson.

Cultivating independence and initiative is an important part of our Wee curriculum. When a child is naturally leading an experience, we step aside and let them lead. We stay close to guide them as they communicate with their peers. We are intentional about encouraging and pointing out a child’s strength.

031

Today friends used their skills to create our annual scarecrow. In another part of the classroom, Melinda expressed: “Show me where your body would go if you were going UP?” She continued the exploration with other spacial comparisons: over/under and behind/in front of.

027

Our morning ended with a visit from Romy’s grandmother!

039

Wee Sprouts: PPC  wee heirloom tomatoes. Breakfast: Kix and grapes. Lunch: Melted cheddar and ham on whole wheat tortillas, PPC roasted zucchini and orange slices. Snack: Cottage cheese and apple slices.

Hope everyone had a terrific weekend!

It was a baby doll kind of morning. Friends used the baby dolls along with bottles, blankets, and diapers to have a baby doll extravaganza this morning.

We got outside and thankfully got some vitamin D once the sun came out.

IMG_0929IMG_0933

A couple children mentioned that the sand was cold! There was that Fall nip in the air this morning Smile.

IMG_0941IMG_0936

We welcomed back Anna who was on vacation all last week! Annabelle started her second week at WWF today! It was a GREAT Monday!

IMG_0947IMG_0959

For breakfast, children had bagels with cream cheese and banana. Lunch consisted of whole grain spaghetti noodles with marinara sauce, cauliflower, and banana. PM snack was yogurt and strawberries.

Have a great night!

WF 10/17 Friday

On this beautiful Friday we spent time caring for our babies.

014                      009

Wrapping babies up in blankets, cuddling them, clothing them, feeding them—we love practicing the skills we see adults do.

028                      030

Halloween Goop was such a hit earlier this week that Wee Frienders were asking for some more. So GOOP again it is!

019             018

We love the feeling of cornstarch and water between our fingers. Later, we put the mixture in balloons so we could continue exploring the sensation of goop—it’s both a liquid and a solid—in a new way.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend.

-Jessica
