WF Daily Explorations, Let’s BBQ the Grinch 12/11/13

We were having blog problems uploading the pictures, so here’s just the text of today’s blog.  We’ll get all the pics to you as soon as we figure out why our program is being difficult.

Tomorrow, our dear Melinda is having knee surgery. She will be gone through the beginning of January. Should you want to touch base with her, she asked that you feel free to write her via email or snail mail @ [email protected] or 134 River Avenue, Mishawaka 46554.

We are looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow (Thursday 12/12) at 4pm!

Our day began with a sticker project. We set out stickers and black card stock and encouraged friends to create ornaments.

Ellie is deep into a study of her favorite book, Beauty and the Beast. We set out to lift ideas off the page by offering Ellie and later, several of her friends, red and green paper and tape to create roses. After Ellie finished her rose, she set it under a glass bowl. She will watch it in days to come to see how, with her imagination,  it might change.

As friends settled into independent play, here are some of the thoughts we gathered, about their work at hand.

Max, Elliott and Finn: “Let’s BBQ the Grinch so we can eat him. It will be like hot dogs without the bun.”

Zoi: “I’m drinking  milk.”

Eve: “I’m feeding the baby this.”

Clara: “I’m feeding my baby milk. He’s sitting in the high chair.”

Aislinn: “Ga-ga baby! We’re playing house with daddy and mommy. They are saying go to bed.”

Owen: “Go to bed baby. Ring-ring-ring! You can get up baby!”

Marta: “I waited for Lisa. I picket out this book.”

Ellie: “I’m building a big tower so the bad wolf doesn’t get up there and eat the pig!”

Elizabeth: “I’m making a wall for the Big Bad Wolf to not get up to the surface.”

Marina: “ This is the Big Bad Wolf.”

Enjoy your day. It’s a good day for a BBQ.

Wee Sprouts: Cucumbers. Breakfast: Malt-O-Meal and bananas. Lunch: Homemade ham and bean soup, homemade wheat bread and butter and bananas. Snack: Apple slices and string cheese.

WF PARKING POLICY!!! Please Read.

It has come to my attention that our parking policy needs to be reviewed.  Our neighbors have been very supportive of our business zoning in their residential neighborhood and the inconveniences associated with a small business on their quiet street.  Therefore, it is my work to communicate our parking policy and to ask everyone to police themselves in following it EVERY time they are parking.

I fully understand that parking can be frustrating, especially when families are busy and need to move on to their next event in the evening.  However, this is our parking situation and when everyone is on board, it runs pretty smoothly, despite the occasional inconveniences.

The most difficult time is between 5:00-5:30 when the majority of our families arrive simultaneously.  Please consider, if your schedule allows, a slightly earlier pick up if parking in the church lot is frustrating to you when the on street parking is full.

ON THURSDAY, FOR OUR WF PROGRAM AT 4:00, ALL FAMILIES WILL NEED TO PARK AT THE CHURCH LOT.

I am sending home this diagram and the policy to each family.  PLEASE SIGN THE PARKING POLICY AND RETURN IT TO WF.  Thanks!

PARKING POLICY FOR WF/WWF FAMILIES

Families dropping off or picking up children may use on street parking ONLY for a maximum of 10 minutes at each time.

If you would like to enjoy time in the WF/WWF past 10 minutes you must park:

  • In the one spot in the WF alley driveway
  • In the Evangelical Lutheran Church parking lot (3 houses down from WWF).
  • In the WWF East parking pad (behind the playground, works best in summer when we are outdoors)

Our families MUST park courteously to our neighbors.  This means:

  • FOLLOWING THE PARKING DIAGRAM, PARK EAST SIDE ONLY
      • Use only the 4 on street spots in front of our house
      • And, the 4 on street parking places in front of Tim and Vera’s houses (just north of alley). If you see them, thank them for being so flexible with us!
  • DO NOT BLOCK THE ALLEY UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE.
  • If you are picking up between 5:00-5:30.  Plan on a very quick p/u or park off street.  This is the time of the day that it gets very congested. Consider coming earlier, at a time that isn’t so busy, if you would like to park more easily.
  • PARK CONSIDERATELY AND STRATEGICALLY TO MAXIMIZE THE 8 SPOTS WE HAVE.
  • Everyone needs to be pulled the right direction on the road.

Hello!

With only three friends here today, it was a quiet morning at WWF! Eve played in the kitchen for a while before heading over to Wee Friends to play. Come January, Eve will venture over across the bridge to Wee Friends. She’s been visiting most mornings and having a fabulous time!

IMG_2259IMG_2263

That left us with Maya and Lucy! They had the whole run on the house. Between playing with baby toys, train blocks, and doll house equipment (babies, furniture), they were both ready for their morning naps Smile.

Have a lovely rest of your day!

Happy Monday! Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Today, because of low number, friends got one on one time with friends and teachers! The babies enjoyed floor time. Tate made his way up the habitrail this morning Smile.

Eve and Saskia read books sporadically this morning. This afternoon, Eve worked with her colors and sorting. She used the peg boards and associated the boards with the colored pegs.

For breakfast, children had cheerios and pears. Lunch consisted of whole grain noodles with cheese and kidney beans, oranges, and corn. PM snack was cheddar cheese and apples.

Have a great night!

Happy Friday!

We enjoyed going on the habitrail today along with stacking/sorting/playing on the blocks! It was a sensorial morning with friends touching pokey bouncy balls and our sensorial circles.

Eve, Eren, and Emma played barbershop this afternoon. They stacked the blocks and had a friend sit in the chair. They even ‘pumped up’ the chair and started cutting hair!

IMG_2209IMG_2212

To end our day, we had real barbershop! Eren loved his spikey hair! Smile
