WF Thursday 6/13 “Is there TV or internet in that cabin?”

*Tomorrow soccer game@ 3pm at Nuner. Please make sure you have signed permission form! Thanks so much!

196

Wee Friends are super excited about tomorrow’s soccer match! In fact, Max brought in Suddeutsche Zeitung, Munich’s daily paper (from his Daddy’s recent trip abroad) to show us up close what champions on the soccer field look like! Sydney, Taylor and Macy, fresh from cheerleading camp, taught the wee peeps cheers for tomorrow. WF, WF, GO! GO! GO!

And then we left for the farm.

019

“Is there TV or Internet in that cabin?” asked a Wee Friend, when passing by Farmer Charlotte’s log cabin.

029

Today we walked, away from technology and across the prairie path into nature’s web of heavenly signals and sounds.

035

We stopped to watch birds in flight, look at the swampy wet on our boots, shoo off bugs, spot different colored flowers, pet the kitty, measure our heights against that of a tall weed and find monsters in the deep dark woods!

041

Some friends gathered wild daisies and put them in their hair. Others did so with feathers.

051

And then we walked some more… through the sweet prairie grass feeling the delicious prairie breeze. We came upon our stages. Somehow, a snapping crocodile emerged and then a song…then a smiling crocodile…and then a game of hide and seek in the prairie.

092

121

We never found a TV or the internet on the prairie.

046

Wee Sprouts: Carrots. Breakfast: Hard boiled eggs and bananas. Lunch: Tuna fish with whole wheat tortillas, pear slices and celery. Snack: Fresh strawberries (thanks Matt D.!) and cheese sticks.

Have you escaped technology yet today? Smile

Good Afternoon!

Before the heat wave and bad weather got here, we headed outside this morning and spent quality time with one another. The sandbox was a main attraction as well the slides. Friends went down in pairs. We made sure to help each other get up the tree stumps along the slides. Our outside time is critical and so special! All of the kids love to just run around in the open space.

There was a rumble in the jungle this morning at WWF as a teacher story was read! Clara choose to read “Rumble in the Jungle” with her friends. Different animals appeared throughout the story such as rhinoceros, hippopotamus, and lion. We made the noises of each animal. Some were scary! Eren ran from the crocodile!

Happy Monday!

Our week started off with a little ‘Ring Around the Rosie’. We held hands while teachers and wee wee’s sang the song. When we fell down, we helped one another back up! Our favorite part was of course falling down Smile.

IMG_4286IMG_4288IMG_4289

Once we got outside, we realized that it was quite wet! Friends loved playing in the wet sand because it was easier to build castles using wet sand. However, our clothes did not agree (we got a tad dirty)! That just means that we played hard!

IMG_4297IMG_4300

Our Monday was ended on a pretend play note. Everyone got a piece of clothing from house keeping. Eve let the world know, “I’m beautiful!” while Eren dressed up from head to toe! It’s always fun pretending to be someone else using our big imaginations Smile.

IMG_4336IMG_4345

For breakfast, children had cheesy eggs and apples. Lunch consisted of homemade macaroni and cheese with whole grain noodles and tuna, pears, and corn. PM snack was whole wheat crackers with soy butter and oranges.

Have a lovely evening.

WF Monday 6/10

  • Tuesday Field Trip: Tomorrow, Tuesday, June 11th, we will be taking Wee Friends to the new Potawatomi splash pad. We will depart here (via Weehicle, extra van and car)at 10:45 and return at 12 noon. We will supply beach towels. We have noted your child’s cubby if we do not have a swim suit for him/her. Please sign the master permission slip, taped on the inside door frame, when you pick up today. Thanks so much!

002

Well, it feels like summertime in the Wee World. A few friends have left for their summer travels and a few friends have joined us for summer fun!

010

As groups rotated on the Blue Bus, we watched friends jump into their areas of interest, and we listened as conversations and ideas sparked.

013

022

Marina called her mom on a Magna-Tile flip phone to see if her baby had come yet. Ellie and Sloane also made calls out.

047

Caleb and Finn set sail in a pirate ship, while below deck, a few friends played house.

038

The rain forced us indoors. We gathered in the reading area to read a book about how weather works. When we turned to the page about electricity in lightening, we created an experiment: Which traveled faster-Macy on foot or light, from the light switch to the bulb? One friend maintained that a bullet train definitely travels faster then the speed of light. We will follow this notion and see where it takes us.

042

  • Wee Sprouts: Cucumbers. Breakfast: Cheerios and bananas. Lunch: Whole wheat penne pasta with pork, corn and pear slices. Snack: Animal crackers apple slices.

WWF, 6/6/2013

Hello!

Not only do we see the benefits of multi-age care inside WWF but also when we travel outside to be with our older Wee Friends!

During the day, friends learn from one another; language, social skills, and cognitive knowledge. We know that each friend lives in a different environment. Everyone is exposed to new and exciting things which allows their experiences to be individualized. Eve has a new baby at home. While this is particular to Eve and her family, she brings knowledge into her play that she’s learning at home such as how to help the baby eat and sleep.

IMG_4256IMG_4259

While outside, the age difference is larger but that doesn’t inhibit friends from playing with one another. Most times, you’ll look in the back yard and see a two year old playing with a group of four and five year olds. This benefits both ages. We love being able to indulge in play time with our Wee Friends!

IMG_4220IMG_4254

For breakfast, children had whole wheat bagel with cinnamon and banana. Lunch consisted of whole grain rice with chicken, pineapple/raisins, and mixed vegetables.

IMG_4262IMG_4261

Have a great night!
