Good Afternoon and Happy March! SPRING IS SOOOO CLOSE!!!!! Smile

Today we engaged in an art activity that everyone really enjoyed. Glitter is always fun to sprinkle on anything. We painted our cut out shamrocks and then added festive green glitter to them .

We also had much fun hiding our bodies under the habi-trail.

Welcome to March!

Evie and Mack used a pie chart for their sign in to answer questions surrounding our favorite pizza topping! The last question was, “How many friends were asked about their favorite pizza topping?”. They both were able to add 5 + 4 + 3 + 2 in their heads and come up with the correct answer.

K.W.5: With support, build understanding of a topic using various sources. (Identify relevant pictures, charts, grade-appropriate texts, personal experiences, or people as sources)

Last week, we talked about comparison words in K/PREK1 group. We used a scale to see how much every child weighed and today, we used a kitchen scale to measure items around the environment. There were seven items that we weighed but before we put them on the scale, we guessed how much each item may weigh.

We used the watermelon as our example. The watermelon last week weighed 18 pounds and the group decided that no item that we weighed today would weigh more than 18 pounds. Some of our guesses were really close!

IMG_4217IMG_4216IMG_4214

In PREK2 group, each child got a book about a different animal. They chatted about the animal book they had and with the help of Miss Kim, created a Venn Diagram that focused on what the animals ate. Children had to decide if their animal was a herbivore, carnivore, or omnivore.

IMG_3180IMG_3184

Mack and Evie built magnatile gems this morning! They used only triangles to create their gems.

IMG_3131IMG_3128

IMG_3148

Before heading outside, children took turns getting some energy out by jumping on the trampoline! It is our favorite inside gross motor activity!

IMG_3152IMG_3150

We were thrilled that the sprinkling subsided even for us to go outside. Children scattered throughout the yard, diving into various activities.

James, Millie, and Nesta played ‘family’. There was a dad, mom, and baby, They chatted about what they were making for dinner (stuffed peppers + pasta + muffins). Later on in their play experience, they pronounced that the mommy was pregnant and they were on the way to the hospital to have another baby! How wide our imaginations are! Smile

Good morning!

In K/PREK1, we read, ‘Up, Up, Down’ by Robert Munsch. Afterwards, we all got the opportunity to make patterns with our bodies! I started off by sharing my pattern: knee, knee, clap, clap, knee, knee, clap, clap.

Evie shared her pattern with us! Her body pattern was head tap, head tap, belly tap, belly tap, head tap, etc. We talked about what patterns are and how they repeat themselves.

K.CA.5: Create, extend, and give an appropriate rule for simple repeating and growing patterns with numbers and shapes.

Children dove into activities rather quickly this morning, becoming engaged with peers in all areas of the environment. There were a few new art materials that were used at the table along with sketching books (which we’ve been loving lately!).

IMG_3056IMG_3059IMG_3076

Several friends came to the art table to make bead bracelets later on in the morning! Daniel even got out a ruler to see how long his bead bracelet ended up being.

It looks like we’re going to get to enjoy our outdoor environment all throughout the week! Yay!

The temperatures look a little cooler in the morning so please make sure your child has everything they’ll need here Smile.

Good Afternoon and I hope you all had a great weekend. We want to thank you all for another great year of conferences.

PLEASE NOTE: Reenrollment forms are due tomorrow, March 1, 2022.

Today, we engaged ourselves in a fun sensory activity. Shaving cream was placed on the kitchen table with paint brushes and Easter eggs. We loved touching and squeezing the cream in our hands.

Happy Thursday!

Children continued working on the art activity from yesterday. Friends used paint and sponges to cover cardboard yesterday and today, we tapped the cardboard together to make buildings. James and a few other peers used sponges to make windows on the buildings. We’re going to use this next week in a new play experience!

IMG_2971IMG_2972

Stencils were quite popular at the art table! The art table is one of the areas in the environment where our imaginations run wild! Lately, friends have been using a variety of materials to color and draw with including markers, crayons, and pencils!

IMG_2978IMG_2979IMG_2981

James, Nesta, Evie, and a few other friends were completely enthralled in the habitrail area earlier today. They used wooden boards to build bridges to individual homes for the animals. The details in their creation were vast. Friends kept extending their play experience by adding in new materials or dimensions to their game.

As you are all aware, we LOVE teacher books. So today, we borrowed a few from the preschool classroom. The selections were, Snake supper, Boom Chicka Rock, Frozen Noses and To Market To Market! Ohhhh my word, did this ever bring back memories for me! These books have been some of my favorites since I was teaching in the preschool classroom. It was just as fun for me as it was our friends. Smile

Good Afternoon. Brrrrr… It’s cold today, I hope you are all staying warm.

Friends were excited to go into the kitchen area and search for their journal binders to color with markers. This activity enhances hand-eye coordination, color recognition and letter recognition skills.

One of our two year old friends was playing with several babies and used her vivid imagination to have her babies do a neat trick. She took the babies and hung them upside down from a wall picture frame. How is that for an imagination!?!?  Smile

IMG_2438

Recently, we have enjoyed a favorite song to dance to and act out the motions as well. The Lave Freeze Dance has quickly become a favorite of ours that friends’ want to listen to daily. We got our bodies in motion and were having a great time dancing and laughing.

Good Afternoon!

Evie and Mack searched through the classroom to find a peer who was taller than them and a peer who was shorter! Mack commented, “There isn’t any kid taller than me!”. So, he wrote down Cassie!

IMG_2798

We read, ‘Are You My Mother?’ in K/PREK1 group. Once the story was done, I held up a ruler and asked the group to identify it. The answers I got were, “Tape measurer!” and “Ruler!” so we talked about the difference between the two. We used the ruler to measure the five items that were on display. Each child measured one item and said aloud how long it was. We measured the items in inches.

We talked about the length of each item and compared them, talking about the longest item and the shortest item.

K.M.1: Make direct comparisons of the length, capacity, weight, and temperature of objects, and recognize which object is shorter, longer, taller, lighter, heavier, warmer, cooler, or holds more.

IMG_2885

In PREK2, Miss Kim asked each friend a question about the story they read and children had the opportunity to answer the question. Once they answered it, they circled the answer on the white board!

IMG_2876IMG_2881

An art activity was set up at the table that allowed children to use sponges to cover cardboard pieces with paint! For some, it turned into a sensory experience once children started getting paint on their hands! This project is a multi step project that we’re going to use next week in our play! We’re excited to see how it comes along throughout the week.

There were some creative notch block creations that were made this morning! Children love working with these blocks because since they ‘notch’ in together, they’re really easy to use to build structures!

What can children learn from block play? The answer is A LOT! Below is an article from NAEYC that lists the ways in which block play can help a child’s development.

Good Afternoon! What a fun date today is…. 2/22/22! Smile

The pictures for today’s blog are all up and running properly. Again, I am sorry for the inconvenience and I appreciate your understanding and patience on this matter.

This morning we happily engaged in the sensory table. Teachers swapped out the moon sand for bird seed and we loved this change. We had bright colored bowls and cups to fill and pour back out.

IMG_2419IMG_2418

While friends were waiting for their turn to engage in the sensory table, we manipulated with the waffle blocks. With this activity, friends can work on understanding their colors and use their cognitive skills to piece together the blocks.
