Happy Friday!

After we read, ‘I’m The Best!’ in K group, we used the community helpers from group yesterday as a catalyst for an activity today! Each friend got to come up to the board and choose a community helper. They took the word card back to their mat and they had to say aloud a tool that the community helper uses to do their job! So, for example, a child had ‘police officer’. They shared that a police officer needs a police car to do their job. We all had a discussion where other peers shared different tools that the community helper would need.

Social Studies: K.2.1 Give examples of people who are community helpers (inside the classroom and outside the classroom) and describe how they help us.

Good Afternoon!

We read, ‘Be Glad Your Nose Is On Your Face’ in K group  which is a huge collection of funny poems! Each friend got a turn to pick a poem before we started in on the activity for group time. There were 9 community helpers that were taped to the chalkboard. We read them aloud and after, I read a description of a community helper and by working together, we were able to match each helper to their description!

It was quite the busy morning! Friends requested beads + pipe cleaners as well as the art easel. We saw older friends take their younger peers under their wing and help them with these activities—one of the many benefits of a multi-age classroom!

The rest of our morning was a mixture of inside time where our younger friends got in some wonderful gross motor activity while the outside offered up more of a quiet down time. Miss Kim brought out a big blanket and some of our favorite books for a quieter activity in the shade!

Good Afternoon!

In our K group, we read ‘Farmer Duck’ which transitioned us into a conversation about community helpers. For the kindergarten sign in this morning, children had to write down one community helper and then verbally share how that specific community helper helps us.

We created a web where we wrote down as many community helpers that we could think of. This list will help us tomorrow as we start a group activity!

Social Studies: K.2.1 Give examples of people who are community helpers (inside the classroom and outside the classroom) and describe how they help us.

Water Wednesday was a huge success! Friends took turns walking or running through the sprinkler. Of course, there’s always a few that prefer to stand back and watch which is perfectly fine! After a while in the sprinkler, some friends decided to head over to the water table where they explored with water and how it moves.

Good Afternoon!

Yesterday, we focused on rules that we follow inside the classroom so today in our K group, we created a web with rules that we follow while we’re in our outdoor environment. As we did yesterday, friends also share why it’s important to follow these rules outside.

Social Studies: K.2.3 Give examples of classroom and school rules and explain how each helps us.

In PREK2 group, friends made a list of people who help us around our community. Once they shared their community helper, they wrote their name next to it.

Happy Monday!

We read, ‘What Do You Do With A Problem?’ in our kindergarten group. Afterwards, we talked about our kindergarten sign in which required children to pick one rule that we follow inside and either write or draw it. Then, they had to verbally share why we have this rule.

This theme continued on into our group session where we created a web with various indoor rules. Once friends stated the rule, they had to say why we follow that specific rule.

The FAB’s that we’ll be focusing on this week are:

Social Studies: K.2.1 Give examples of people who are community helpers (inside the classroom and outside the classroom) and describe how they help us.

Social Studies: K.2.3 Give examples of classroom and school rules and explain how each helps us.

DSCN9232

In PREK2, children focused on the four pictures that were on the board. They had to verbally share who they think uses those tools. After they shared, they wrote their name on the white board.

We saw friends come into the environment this morning and quickly become engaged in building activities, art table, and fine motor manipulative work.

What a beautiful start to our week.

Happy Monday. I hope you all had a great weekend.

PLEASE NOTE: Wednesday, August 26th we will be having a water play day. If you could please bring your child in their swim suit and extra swim shoes they may have, that would be fantastic.

Also, Wee Friends will be CLOSED Monday September 7th for Labor Day!

This morning we happily engaged in finger/hand painting. This is our absolute FAVORITE way to paint. We get the most out of our sensory experience this way. Smile

Happy Friday!

In our K group, we read the story, ‘Giraffe’s Can’t Dance’ which documents Gerald’s dancing journey. To begin the story, Gerald gets mad fun of because he can’t dance, to which every K member replied, “Ugh! They’re being mean to Gerald. That’s not nice.”

Towards the end of the story, Gerald found music that suited him which in turn, made him a better dancer! Mack concluded, “See! Gerald CAN dance!”
