Good Afternoon!

We used one of our favorite books for our activity today in K/PREK1. We read, ‘The Gruffalo’ and afterwards, children took turns saying aloud the characters in the story, the setting, and a few events that happened in the story. As we talked about the characters, friends even put them into order in which they appeared throughout the story!

K.RL.2.3: Identify important elements of the text (e.g., characters, settings, or events).

IMG_1943IMG_1950

In PREK2, children talked about the terms ‘greater than’ and ‘less than’. Miss Kim changed up the groups each time and asked, “Which group has the most monsters?”

IMG_1945

Daniel and Mack put all of the plastic shapes onto the workbench surface. Together, they decided to sort the shapes into groups based on the shape name. When they put the shapes back into the plastic bin, they put them back shape by shape. The bin looked really cool once they were done!

IMG_1898IMG_1897

Throughout the morning, children scattered off into every single area of the environment.

Evie and several friends cuddled up into the reading area with books and a few pillows. The art table was buzzing with conversations about what everyone was drawing. Many of our friends enjoy using the sketching books while others prefer to free hand their drawings!

Good Afternoon.

Please Note: Your child’s pre-conference form is due this Friday, February 11th.

Paige and her friend had a wonderful time engaging in a couple different activities today! They manipulated the small duplo people along with the other duplos, working on getting them to stick to the green duplo mat.

They then decided to go over to the dramatic play (housekeeping) center to cook and serve one another delicious foods.

A two year old friend asked Miss Bekah if they could sing and act out “Sleepy Bunnies.” This is a fun interactive song that our friends love to engage in. As the song progresses, a different animal is chosen to fall asleep. wake, and then make the sound that they specifically make.

IMG_1701IMG_1707IMG_1708

Emma got down one of the pianos to make music today! That then lead a couple more friends join in the musical fun with her. This activity enhances hand-eye coordination, the difference in sounds, and color recognition.

Good Afternoon!

**The conference scheduling form is due tomorrow, Friday January 28. Thanks!

Evie had four problems in her kindergarten sign in. Each question required her to draw a shape with a specific number of sides. She had to draw a shape with zero sides, a shape with three sides, a shape with four equal sides, and a shape with four sides that weren’t the same length.

K.G.2: Compare shapes using informal language to describe their similarities, differences, and parts (e.g., number of sides, length of sides, and vertices).

IMG_1684

After reading, ‘Small Pig’ in K/PREK1 group, we used shape cards to steer the direction of our group. I went first and explained what the activity entailed. Each friend got a chance to do at least one card. On the card, it shows what shapes you need to complete the problem. Daniel had to get six triangles so that he could form a new shape: a hexagon! A few of the other problems we solved were: two squares creating a new rectangle as well as two triangles and two rhombuses to create a new hexagon.

When we were done, Evie asked, “Are there more cards?!”—so we plan on exploring the rest of the shape cards later this afternoon!

K.G.4: Compose simple geometric shapes to form larger shapes (e.g., create a rectangle composed of two triangles).

IMG_3836IMG_3828

IMG_3824IMG_3826

In PREK2 group, children discussed story order before heading to the journal table.

IMG_1731IMG_1729IMG_1727

Rowan and Nesta explored activities by themselves this morning before getting together later in the morning to dive into cooperative play and a short stint in the reading area. Rowan has been enjoying the drawing/sketch books at the art table while Nesta requested the light table in the science area. She chose a variety of manipulatives including colored hexagons that she used for various patterns.

IMG_1667IMG_1661IMG_1718

A few friends compared their ‘muscles’ this morning. Daniel shared that he worked out yesterday while he was home and was quite excited to show his muscles to his peers.

..thankfully we eat a ton of vegetables that help our muscles grow!

IMG_1655IMG_1654IMG_1656

Breakfast– Whole Grain Cheerios with banana.

Lunch– Brown rice with shredded pork, fresh pineapple, and fresh pepper/cucumber/broccoli.

PM snack– Whole wheat crackers with sunflower seeds.

Wee Sprout– Fresh cucumber/broccoli.

Have a wonderful night!

Good Afternoon.

This morning while Miss Annastecia was in our classroom, she brought over her yoga activity game.  Friends were pretty excited to roll the dice and see what position they needed to move and stretch their bodies to. They had a GREAT yoga session with much enthusiasm.

IMG_1339IMG_1337

IMG_1359IMG_1364

Arthur enjoyed the wooden popper sticks activity. He utilizes his hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills to place the colored stick into a hole in the wooden base. giving a small amount of pressure the stick will pop out if its hole. This activity can also enhance a child’s color recognition and matching skills.

IMG_1326IMG_1327

When Miss Annastecia was getting ready to leave our classroom andgo to the preschool classroom, friends wanted to give her a hand slap (five) as she was exiting.
