Good Afternoon!

This morning was a slower morning for us.  Friends were engaged  independently in activities with a teacher, or a teacher close by watching and talking to us.  We enjoyed reading books, driving our cars up the textured ramps and playing with dinosaurs.

Since we had low numbers today, we were able to fit everyone in a wagon and go on a wagon ride with one of the teachers.  We went several times around the block.  We saw a bunny, flowers, signs, garbage cans/recycle bins, yard ornaments, and a mail truck to name a few.  We saw a lot. Unfortunately we didn’t see a train when we walked up by the train tracks.  We also used our listening ears to stop and listen for sounds that we heard.  We heard some sirens, birds, and dogs barking. It was a great day for a wagon ride.

Paige engaged in playing hide and seek with a wooden egg and ball.  She used the big pillow to hide them behind, then was looking and grabbing them from behind the pillow and placing them in front of it.  She then stuck her tongue out and started blowing raspberries at Miss Bekah.

Happy Friday!

**Wee Friends will be closed starting Thursday, July 1st through Friday, July 9th. We’ll reopen Monday, July 12th.

___________________________________________________________________________________

We want to wish all of our amazing current and past Wee Friends dads a wonderful Happy Father’s Day!

The circle table was everchanging today as children explored a variety of activities. To start, friends dove into the welcome activity which was made up of white tiles along with small and large colorful puff balls. Children used these materials in various ways such as making patterns using the puff balls. One of our three year old’s used the puff balls as ice cream and the white tiles served as marshmallows!

Franklin and Mack used the Montessori beads to make a tower. They moved the squares in different places on their tower to see which order proved to be the most stable.

Daniel got out the block pattern puzzle. He chose a pattern to do and towards the end, he didn’t even need to look at the pattern card.

We went outside later on in the morning and within a few minutes of being outside, a group of kindergarteners found a mantis! They searched the back yard and found another one!

This heightened interest in new and exciting bugs sent friends on a hurried search throughout the backyard to see if they could find anything else.

Happy Thursday!

This morning we went out a little early to engage in a gross motor and painting activity rolling a ball down the slide.  We each chose a ball from a bowl with green paint or a bowl with red paint.  We then walked up the climbing rocks to the top of the slide.  We watched our ball as it rolled down the slide and painted our paper before landing in the bin (most of the time) at the bottom of the slide.  When then slid down the other slide to get a ball and do it all over again.  We had a blast.

Good Afternoon!

This morning several friends requested teacher books.  Miss Bekah grabbed a stack of our favorite stories to read to us.

P6164112P6164114

Friends engaged their fine motor and hand-eye coordination skills to work on completing puzzles.  Friends were using magnets to pull their magnet pieces out before using their hand to place it back into its place in the puzzle board.  We also engaged in puzzles that worked on our matching skills where we had to match half of the animals body back together.

P6164121P6164130P6164131P6164133

A friend came over yesterday after dropping off their siblings in the other classroom with a few new dinosaurs. So today Nesta asked to do that.  She picked 3 dinosaurs we have had for a long time to take back and trade out for new ones.  After doing that, she and another friend engaged in play together with them.

P6164142P6164127

During outside time, the scooters were out for us to try for the first time.  Miss Bekah gave us all a little instruction on how to use them so they would not tip on us.  She then also showed us how we could also ride them laying on our tummies.  We had a great time riding them around the circle.

P6164153P6164157P6164161P6164159

We also engaged in climbing, playing with the baby dolls, watching the sand run through our fingers and riding on the teeter totter for the first time.

Good Afternoon!

We are eight chapters into Charlotte’s Web so far in our K group. We’re continuing to learn more about each character and today, we added a few key details about Fern and Templeton. There’s a few storylines that we are very interested in! What’s going to happen to the bad egg that Templeton took? Will Mr. Zuckerman really kill Wilbur? Time will tell! We’re on the edge of our seats every group session to see what happens!

Our lemonade stand is still going strong. Not only are children using coins but dollar bills were introduced today!

The sensory bin has been a busy place with friends patiently waiting for a turn. The kinetic sand is one of our favorite sensory experiences.

DSCN6292DSCN6303DSCN6315DSCN6318

We took some of our dinosaurs outside this morning and used them in the sand box. Children used paint brushes to brush away the sand off the dinosaur—we were fantastic paleontologists! We only lost one dinosaur in the sandbox! Smile

DSCN6329DSCN6333

Paint dotters and a long piece of paper were made available at the outside art easel. Some children chose to make dots randomly around the canvas while others made intentional artwork whether it was their name or a rainbow!

Good Afternoon!

Children were anxious to explore the new sensory bin: kinetic sand!

Ice cream themed materials were placed within the bin and the kinetic sand was perfect as pretend ice cream. Friends served up one another and explored the properties of our newest sensory experience.

The chains were used in a different way today! The challenge was to get out of the chains when sitting in a chair!
