Happy Wednesday!

DSCN7760DSCN7749

We had lots of Halloween fun this morning! Ms. Rebekah was kind enough to let us borrow her pumpkin bingo game. A few of our friends had a chance to play a short game yesterday afternoon, so we decided to pull it out again. We had a few more friends come to the table today to enjoy it.

Our friends have been enjoying creating with playdough so much that we decided to add a few more supplies to see what their imaginations would whip up. We were not disappointed! We had some scary monsters, bone bowls, and meat on bones. They loved showing off their masterpieces to each other and the teachers.

Both the kindergarteners and Prek2 groups discussed what charts are and what they can be used for. Our prek2 group charted their favorite costume from our Clifford book. We studied our chart to see which costume had the most/least amount of likes.

The kindergarteners created a pie chart today based on how many carnivores, herbivores, and omnivores they had chosen earlier in the week from their dinosaur book. Based on the chart, they could see that most of the selections were carnivores, and the least were omnivores.

Happy Tuesday WF Families,

Today was another day full of patterns. Our welcome activity gave our friends the opportunity to create their own pompom patterns. Our Prek2 group created their own patterns using materials they found in a bag. They selected what objects they wanted to use and formed their pattern on one side of an egg carton. Ms. Kim copied the pattern on the other side of the egg carton to reinforce the skill.

“Finding patterns is the essence of wisdom.”

-Dennis Prager

Ms. Annastecia cut a ghost figure out of contact paper and mounted it to the door. Our friends had a wonderful time pulling cotton balls apart and covering our ghost with them. It was such a simple activity, but our friends really enjoyed it.

Happy Monday,

Our Monday was a busy one! First, we painted a giant spiderweb using our spice scented paint. It really made the house smell good!

DSCN7582DSCN7571DSCN7567

Our Kindergarten and PreK2 group worked with patterns. Ms. Mindy made patterns out of beads for our Kindergarteners to finish. Many of them chose to fill up their pipe cleaners to create a pattern bracelet.

Our Prek2 group did their own patterns with the Unifix Cubes. Each of them was given a pattern and it was their job to finish it.

During large group Ms. Annastecia selected a well loved dinosaur book. Each of the Kindergarteners came up and picked out a dinosaur from it. They had to identify if it was a carnivore, herbivore, or omnivore. They used a Venn Diagram to chart their answers. Based on the diagram, they could tell that most of the selection of dinosaurs were carnivores.

Good Afternoon. I hope you all had a great weekend.

This morning we happily engaged in one of our favorite sensory activities…. shaving cream. We added some Fall items; leaves, corn/beans from the sensory table and pine cones to give us different textures to explore with in it. Some of us used our fingers and hands while some of us used paint brushes. Either way, we had a great time.

Happy Friday!

I found this simple yet extremely complex article to end our week:

http://teachertomsblog.blogspot.com/2020/10/the-school-of-mankind.html

“Most of what children learn about being a human being in this world, they learn from the people they most love, but not because they have been drilled, scolded, or otherwise indoctrinated, but rather because they follow their example.

Our children will not learn to pursue their passions unless the loving adults in their lives set that example for them. They will not learn to be unselfish if we live with a tight fist. They will not learn to manage their emotions, if their role models haven’t figured it out for themselves.”

Have a safe and wonderful weekend.

Good Afternoon and happy Friday!

Our friends Miss Paige is doing big things these days.

Paige just turned five months and she is working on sitting up with the help of teachers. She loves to be a super big girl and “sit” in the rocking chair. Smile

Adrian is working on strengthening his gross motor skills by walking up the outdoor steps. This is a great way to gain confidence as well because the steps are pretty big and wide for our little guys. Adrian does a FANTASTIC job maneuvering his body in all the right ways to successfully get up all on his own. GREAT job, Adrian.

Good Afternoon!

We read, ‘Leaf Man’ in K group today! Afterwards, I showed the group two different cups and they answered two questions pertaining to the cups and gems. The first question was, “Which cup do you think will hold the most gems?” and the second question was “How many gems do you think the glass jar will hold?”. Friends gave their estimates and I documented them by writing them on the chalkboard.

After we gave our predictions, we worked together to count the gems as I put them into the jar. The glass jar ended up holding 96 gems! We transferred the gems to the white cup and counted the gems until that cup was full—we counted to 160! Friends shared, “We were right! The white cup did hold the most!”

K.M.1: Make direct comparisons of the length, capacity, weight, and temperature of objects, and recognize which object is shorter, longer, taller, heavier, warmer, cooler, or holds more.

DSCN7521DSCN7522DSCN7524

In PREK2, children worked at filling the glass jar with pom poms and after the jar was full, they counted how many pom poms were in the jar by taking one out at a time!

DSCN7519

One of our favorite traditions around this time of year is our pumpkin exploration! First, children had the opportunity to remove the seeds and pulp from the pumpkin.

Once that was done, friends took wooden hammers and hammered golf tees into the pumpkin!

Good afternoon.

Friends always like to play with balls. Sometimes we roll them on the floor back and forth to one another, sometimes we lightly toss them into the basket to see if we make it successfully in, and then sometimes we play catch.

Today Adrian wanted to play catch. Smile This activity helps us strengthen our hand-eye coordination and our confidence skills.
