Good Afternoon. I hope you all had a fantastic weekend.

Hmmmm…. I wonder what our friend Rowan was thinking?!?! Maybe she was thinking about picking some of the pretty white flowers in the grass and then what they would smell like. Smile

Happy Friday!

Yesterday in K/PREK1 group, we contemplated what the title of chapter 10 referred to. The title of chapter 10 was ‘An Explosion’ and our thought was that the explosion may have something to do with Charlotte’s web. However, it did not and instead, the explosion referred to a rotten egg that Templeton (the rat) was storing in it’s trough. The egg ‘exploded’ and released a rather disgusting smell into the air! We talked about what that smell may have smelled like.

Evie has been interested in measuring things lately and today, she teamed up with an older peer in Penny and they worked together to measure things, starting with the pole in habitrail! Penny held one end of the tape measurer while Evie held the other end and read the number that was showing on the tape measurer. Once they took the measurement, they documented it by writing it down.

As friends headed outdoors, they became involved in a scavenger hunt! They found several clues that eventually lead them to a puzzle they had to put together!

Good Afternoon!

We are through chapter 9 in Charlotte’s Web in our K/PREK1 group! There were several conversations between Charlotte and Wilbur in this chapter that made us deep belly laugh! After we finished chapter 9, I read the title of chapter 10 which is ‘The Explosion’—we’ll read this tomorrow. First, we talked about what an explosion is which lead into what may ‘explode’ in chapter 10. There were several guesses that Charlotte’s web will explode…stay tuned to see if we were right!

In PREK2, children played alphabet bingo. Miss Kim said a letter aloud and they had to see if they had it on their bingo board and if they did, they covered that space up with a colorful counter!

DSCN4661DSCN4673DSCN4676

Children took turns at the art table where they explored a frozen treasure bomb made with baking soda. Friends used a variety of materials such as a squirt bottle and liquid eye dropper to add vinegar to their treasure bomb. Slowly but surely, the treasure appeared as the frozen treasure bomb started to melt! A few friends noted the sounds they heard coming from the treasure bomb as the vinegar mixed with the baking soda.

Good Afternoon and Happy Friday!

We have had a great week. We are loving all this beautiful weather, outside play and of course the water table outdoors.

Today, we enjoyed kicking balls and playing in the sand.

Kicking balls is a great gross motor skill that helps us improve on our balancing and working with engaging our eyes and foot together to kick the ball.

Good Afternoon!

We continued on with chapter 7 in Charlotte’s Web in K/PREK1! The chapter was titled ‘Bad News’. Before we started reading, we brainstormed what the bad news could be. Someone shared, “I think the bad news is that Wilbur dies..”. Towards the end of the chapter, Wilbur learns that Ferns uncle and aunt are planning to kill him for meat! Friends reiterated their guesses from earlier in the session.

Afterwards, we identified the four main characters so far in the story and personality traits of each character. We’ll add to the list as we continue to read.

In PREK2, friends played letter bingo where they identified letters by placing counters on the letters that Miss Kim said aloud.

Happy Monday!

In K/PREK1, we continued reading ‘Charlotte’s Web’. We were excited to hear that Franklin had been reading it along with us from home! We started in on chapter 6 today. Before we dove into the chapter, we discussed what happened in chapter 5 on Friday.

The book is proving to increase our vocabulary skills (and comprehension!) as there are several words that we have not heard of before and children are quick to ask what new words mean.

DSCN4351DSCN4349

In PREK2, friends played ka-boom. Each friend got a turn to pull a popsicle stick and identify the letter that was written on the stick. If anyone pulled the KA-BOOM stick, everyone had to put their stick back in and start all over.

DSCN4339DSCN4338

At the art table, friends gathered as Miss Annastecia read ‘I Ain’t Gonna Paint No More!’. Afterwards, children chose to paint with either a ribbon or a feather! The strokes were much different than a regular paint brush which peaked our interest.

DSCN4286DSCN4291DSCN4296

Week by week, we’re getting a few friends back—our classroom has that ‘almost back to normal’ feeling. We can’t wait to be reunited with all of our friends who are still at home, spending time with family.

We miss you and appreciate EVERYONE as we continue to navigate our new normal (at least for the time being Smile).

I found this and wanted to share as the message is simple but complex at the same time:

“Above all else, recognize that you have nothing to lose by making others feel worthy of love.”
