Good Afternoon!

Right after breakfast was served, Maya asked for ‘Doe-A-Deer’ (Do-Re-Mi from The Sound of Music). This has been her favorite song lately! Friends moved their bodies to the music while using rings and scarves.

Tate and Lucy put many rings over their heads. When they took each ring off, we talked about the certain color of that ring. Lucy saw a specific ring and shouted, “Yellow!”

Children transitioned from music time to working with waffle blocks. We had a couple friends connecting the blocks together to make a tower! Maya enjoyed showing Anna how to connect the blocks together. Multi-age at its finest Smile.

It was an absolutely beautiful morning. We congregated in the sandbox to start.

Friends quickly moved throughout the yard dabbling in bikes, log house play, and the teeter totters.

WF Wednesday 4/29

Today was a day full of gardening fun! This morning friends planted seeds, scooping and mixing and pressing down the dirt. We started growing sunflowers, cucumbers, broccoli and kale.

012018

Next, we went outside and got to work on the garden soil. Friends eagerly jumped in to help spread a layer of compost/manure over our garden beds.

During this process there were many conversations, including sentences like:

“It was my turn with the shovel!”

“This will make our kale grow good.”

“Look! I found a worm!”

“Can I have the rake when you’re done?”

Friends worked together throughout the garden, including sibling pairs.

WF Tuesday 4/28 Balance

Today a friend asked for help constructing a balance beam out of plastic blocks. After a teacher helped Wee Friends build it, many friends took turns walking, balancing and jumping off the balance beam! Later we created a balance beam outside, with our long logs.

020

At Wee Friends we practice balancing in many different ways.

We balance our time, choosing when to spend time alone and when to  play with friends.

001042

We balance objects, like a cup full of rice to pour.

011

And we balance on our tippy toes to reach those high-up cubbies!

WF Field Trip on Friday, May 8th at 10:15

Group A (all children already 4 or 5 years old) will be going to the Children’s Dance Workshop program featuring, “The Stonecutter” and  selections from “Mother Goose”.  The show is at St. Mary’s College O’Laughlin Auditorium.  A group permission slip  will be up soon.

Parents of our children aged 2 and 3 are welcome to transport and attend with their child.  It is a very nice event, but it is long for that age group so you may need to bail part way through.  There will be a teacher at WF for the children who do not go or for children that need to return earlier than the show runs.  I’LL NEED YOUR RSVP IS THIS IS YOUR PLAN.  Thanks!

Another morning sunbath started our day. In the quiet classroom, our youngest Wee Friends enjoyed both independent and group play and projects. It was an excellent opportunity for us to have multiple, long conversations about sharing, “my space” and the many ways and places we can work together.

Have a great weekend.
