Good Afternoon!

The maracas were made available for friends this morning after we finished our breakfast! Annabelle loved the egg shakers. They are the perfect size for our little hands.

IMG_5748IMG_5755

This morning, we unfortunately had to bundle up way more than we did yesterday. Still, the sun was out which made for a decent outside experience!

IMG_5771IMG_5775

With both sites being outside on a regular basis, we’re revisiting procedures that we follow outside, such as waiting for all of the bikes to be taken out of the garage before we grab one!

IMG_5781IMG_5782

While playing with dress up clothes this afternoon, Lucy let teachers know, “Hat on” and “Hat off,” respectively!

IMG_5825IMG_5824

For breakfast, children had kix and banana. Lunch consisted of cheese tortillas, grape tomatoes, and strawberries. PM snack was cream cheese on rice cakes.

Happy Monday!

Hope everyone had a terrific weekend!

Today, we wished Miss Marty a very happy (41st) birthday!—says she doesn’t feel a day over 21! Smile

Friends requested music to start off their morning so different instruments were made available.

IMG_5662IMG_5663IMG_5666

We headed outside on this unbelievably beautiful day. We were EXTREMELY excited to see the bikes out. All five of our friends dashed to get a bike. This morning, we started off with hats and coats. This afternoon, we just put on our shoes and were out the door!

IMG_5693IMG_5696

Friends were so happy to be able to explore the backyard again. With almost all of the snow melted, we’re able to navigate the backyard much better.

IMG_5714IMG_5712

David, Anna, and Annabelle enjoyed looking at books and playing with the trains this afternoon while their tired friends were napping. The outside sure did make our toddlers sleepy!

IMG_5720IMG_5726

For breakfast, children had bagels with butter and oranges. Lunch consisted of whole grain noodles with turkey, mixed vegetables, and apples. PM snack was goldfish and string cheese.

Friends enthusiastically got back on the road, zooming around and around the sidewalk.

Have a great weekend!

*Wee Friends have so enjoyed the backyard this week! Their winter gear has gotten quite a workout. Please feel free to take their winter gear (including snow boots) home this weekend to launder! We’ve been keeping things dry, not necessarily sparkling clean!

WF Thursday 3/12 Baking Extravaganza

This morning was all about baking: finding ingredients, measuring, mixing, cracking, stirring and pouring! Friends joined in baking homemade banana muffins at the island.

020

We followed our recipe list in order and discussed relative sizes (cups vs. teaspoons). Friends practiced waiting patiently for their turn to add ingredients.

016

We also used our noses during the baking process and smelled vanilla, cinnamon, and BANANA!

022 019

The baking extravaganza continued with sensory play at the art table. We added oats, flour, “chocolate chips” (paper) and “sugar” (glitter) to our play dough and created pretend cookies.

The end results look delicious!

Good Afternoon!

This morning, friends were given the opportunity to experiment with moon sand. A few of us were a little hesitant to try it but it was a big success overall!

IMG_5365IMG_5371

We enjoyed filling cups and spoons up with the moon sand then dumping it back into the bin.

IMG_5380IMG_5376

It was all about the sensory aspect of play today. Anna worked with sensory circles while Annabelle felt the bumpy bouncy balls.

IMG_5405IMG_5416

We worked our bodies this afternoon in the gross motor area. Between the blocks, slide, and stairs/slide combo, we exerted a ton of energy!

WF Wednesday 3/11 Wee Friends Love Underpants!

The title of this post says it all: Wee Friends Love Underpants!

This week, we have been reading Dinosaurs Love Underpants and Aliens Love Underpants by Claire Freedman and Ben Cort [http://www.underpantsbooks.com/]. These delightfully funny stories feature a huge slew of colorful underpants. Friends loved picking out their favorite pairs of briefs while reading the books, so we decided to continue exploring the topic in a different way.

010

Inspired by the inside covers of the Underpants stories, we got to work designing our own underpants in a variety of shapes: briefs, shorts and bloomers.

024

Friends created patterns and experimented with shapes; there were rainbow underpants, pirate underpants, heart underpants and many more. Afterward we strung our homemade underpants on a clothesline. Check out our work hanging in the art room!
