Happy Friday!

We were feeling the LOVE today.

IMG_4255

By far, our biggest love is literacy.

IMG_4246IMG_4266

Our love of gross motor play is always evident.

IMG_4272IMG_4273

Our tremendous love of water play (especially washing the baby).

IMG_4288IMG_4310

We enjoyed building with blocks. We all LOVE building towers and then knocking them over.

IMG_4325IMG_4329IMG_4334

Our growing love for everything animal.

IMG_4338IMG_4341IMG_4346

We even found LOVE in our food. Lucy picked up her soy butter on tortilla and “HEART!”

IMG_4315IMG_4316

For breakfast, children had kix and banana. Lunch consisted of soy butter on tortillas, peppers, and pears. PM snack was Tami’s homemade heart shaped sugar cookies and string cheese.

The first Valentine’s of the day were shared this morning by our friend Emerson. When our Wee Friends heard the first “Happy Valentine’s Day, Daniel!” They flocked to their friend in eager anticipation. The celebration continues with a special snack and of course, more Valentine’s to share. Have a great weekend.

Wee Sprouts: Sweet peppers. Breakfast: Oatmeal and bananas. Lunch: Peanut butter sandwiches on whole wheat tortillas, broccoli, and bananas/oranges.  Snack: Tami’s Valentine cookies and cheese sticks.

Good Afternoon!

Nahla and Rosemary were sure happy to see Tate arrive this morning!

IMG_4187IMG_4190

Housekeeping was quite packed this morning as friends chose to work with baby dolls and kitchen toys. Nahla made sure to give her baby doll extra snuggles!

IMG_4209IMG_4211IMG_4215

Our favorite song was requested after snack. Friends really let it all go as they twirled around the room! These pictures really don’t capture how enthused we were Smile. As a group, we belted out “let it go” in unison.

IMG_4219IMG_4218IMG_4223

For breakfast, children had Chex and banana. Lunch consisted of brown rice with cheese, apples, and corn. PM snack was cheddar block cheese and oranges.

Hope everyone has a terrific night.

WF Thursday 2/12

Here at Wee Friends we love new things. Whether they are new books, new tools or new information we are eager to take it all in.

Today we listened to some new books from the library! A favorite was “This is Not My Hat” by Jon Klassen. Many re-readings and giggles.

002

Daniel discovered a workspace that was fairly unknown to him, the workbench! This week he has spent much time working with tools new to him: nails, hammer, screws, screwdriver and drill.

016017

Today friends also discovered new information. Laurie taught some friends about dinosaurs, explaining what they looked like and how they moved. Perfect to go along with another new library book, “Goldilocks and the Three Dinosaurs” by Mo Williams.

Have a happy Thursday. –Jessica

Quick reminders:

TOYS BROUGHT IN… In these last few weeks, we’ve noticed cubbies and backpacks bursting with at home toys and costumes. We would like parents to limit their child to bringing 1 small naptime at home toy/lovie.  This small toy/lovie must be able to fit INSIDE your child’s cubby or we will ask you to take it back to the car in the morning.   Children will be able to take them out at rest time, but will be asked to leave them in cubbies for the other parts of our day. The ideal item would be a soft lovie for nappers and a quiet independent toy for non-nappers.

VALENTINES…On Friday, we celebrate Valentine’s Day! We do invite each friend to share Valentine’s Day cards with one another.  To eliminate confusion for our friends, we ask that the cards are signed by the giver, but not addressed to each individual friend. This way, we can allow the children to do delivering independently and ‘misdeliveries’ will not be upsetting.  (If you have already done valentines with individual names, no worries. )

THANK YOU so much for working with us! These things will help us keep it all FLOWING.

We spent the morning flowing through the classroom. We set out a sensory pool of warm water to further explore how water flows. we used tubes, crazy straws, measuring cups and a colander. No matter the age, friends were able to examine, measure, manipulate and design tubes and splash the water around.

Wee Sprouts: Cauliflower and carrots. Breakfast: Rice cakes with peanut butter and pears. Lunch:  Farm fresh egg casserole, whole wheat bread slices, bananas and raw mixed veggies.   Snack: Black beans and blue tortillas.

Good Afternoon!

**Just as a reminder, we’re asking if parents could please leave outside toys at home or in the car. We find that children most of the time don’t want to share their special toy which can cause some issues with friends at this age. Thanks so much!

Friends took turns in the kitchen as we worked with paint this morning. We picked out five different colors to use. For most kids, it was a great sensory experience this morning as we got our hands a little messy (if you’re child’s hands are pink, the purple paint tends to stain for a little while!).

IMG_4103IMG_4112

Each child takes each experience for what it’s worth. Even though Maya, Tate, Nahla, and Lucy worked with the same materials, the process for each child is always different!

IMG_4126IMG_4128

Once we were finished with afternoon snack, we turned on our favorite music as of late: Frozen! It is requested at least once a day and friends are beginning to sing along. We got out scarves and danced around the environment.

The sun today made us super happy and cheerful!

IMG_4094IMG_4135IMG_4139

A few quotes that I found today that I thought are extremely appropriate Smile.

“Children learn as they play. Most importantly, in play children learn how to learn.”

-O. Fred Donaldson

“Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up”

-Pablo Picasso

For breakfast, children had cheerios and strawberries. Lunch consisted of hummus tortillas, oranges, and tomatoes. PM snack was cheddar cheese and graham crackers. We all ate a GREAT afternoon snack!

Have a great evening!

WF Tuesday 2/10

*Reminder: Conference forms are due TOMORROW, February 11th, if you would like a conference on March 6th. In addition, swim forms are also due if you would like your child to participate in spring swim lessons. Thank you!

Today was a day full of MOVEMENT. This morning friends put on an encore performance of their ballet show from yesterday afternoon, complete with a curtain and music. Friends created tickets with everyone’s names and passed them out. You had to have a ticket to get into the show!

Our newest friend Maddie practiced going up and down every ladder in the Wee Friend house. With deliberate steps, she made it to the top of the habitrail!

Later, Melinda read a hilarious story about barnyard animals. We moved our bodies just like the animals and made their noises too. Here we are as cows:

And eagerly awaiting the next animal to act out:
