Happy Friday!

We worked this morning with scarves. Nahla took her scarf and wore it around her head while Rosemary, Tate, and Lucy threw their scarf up into the air as high as it would go.

curiosity [cu·ri·os·i·ty]

noun

a strong desire to know or learn something

Today we were inspired by a noun we highly value here at Wee Friends: curiosity! The desire to explore, observe and learn more about the world we live in is evident in the types of work we engage in every day. Our curiosity emerged in the following ways today:

We wanted to know how many days there are in the month of February and create a calendar.

011

We were curious about which card would match the pictures on our tiles in Lotto Bingo.

016

We were interested in what would happen if we put food coloring into water. What happens when you add more than one color? What happens when you add a little? When you add a lot?  What do you see?

Yesterday afternoon Jessica devised a game to support Math FAB K.2.1- Model addition by joining sets of objects. Friends dropped beads down the tubes and counted them as they blended in the basket.

If we blended and added the number of activities today that friends created, we would have spent our whole morning counting! It has been a whirling dervish of brain power fun!

Good Afternoon!

We spread out this morning on the carpet to read stories. We buffed up our story collection with many new ‘to us’ books from the basement. Our new favorite is a book with ladybugs!

A rousing rendition of ‘Ring Around the Rosie’ took place. Multiple times. It wore us out.

WF Tuesday 2/3

Welcome back!

006

Our day began with a conversation about how we reconnect after long absences. One friend was lovingly mauled by three other friends: “Play with us! We want you to play with us! Why aren’t you playing with us?” We discussed space and time and gentle inquiries. We redirected our energies to LITERACY FAB K.3.3 and acted out Max’s Breakfast, exploring character, plot and setting.

004

We had a group Bob Book read and explored how to string sounds together to make words.

007

Friends created hide-out and car ramps. Other friends created origami and studied sharks.

Our work spreads to every corner of the Wee classroom. We utilized our great space, took our our sweet learning/play time and encouraged gentle approaches to our friends and our work.

Welcome back. –Laurie

Happy Friday!

It was a shaving cream type of morning. Friends dove into the sensorial activity using different toys to intensify their play.

IMG_3756IMG_3764

Nahla clapped her hands together which cause the shaving cream to fly everywhere. We all thought that was quite funny Smile.

IMG_3776IMG_3771

Gross motor play involved the big blocks and friends jumping off of them! We counted: 1, 2, 3!

IMG_3782IMG_3783

David had a blast trying to nibble on his feet while Annabelle loved rolling all around to get the toy that she wanted. Anna was all about clapping her hands today!
