Good Afternoon!

Maya, Tate, Nahla, and Anna had a fairly quiet day as some of our friends were home trying to feel better and rest up for the rest of the week. Our morning was spent reading teacher stories as well as a little kitchen play and gross motor work.

After breakfast, we turned on some music and made the maracas, drums, and pianos available for friends.

While Tate was playing in the kitchen, he blew on his bowl and plate and said, “Hot!” He then reiterated this at lunch time as well.

Maya requested ‘The Wheels on the Bus’ and ‘Row, Row, Row Your Boat’ throughout the morning.

Nahla and Anna sat on the floor and moved play cars throughout the environment this morning. A few friends said, “Vroomm!” as the cars were going by.

For breakfast, children had toast with butter and cinnamon along with blueberries, a favorite of ours. Lunch consisted of cheese tortillas, oranges, and broccoli. PM snack was pumpkin muffins and grapes.

Wees spent their morning using logic and letter recognition to group like seasons, colors and foods. They also used blocks to hide-seek-find and count by twos. Elizabeth brought us a huge sheet of bubble wrap and stickers.

Enjoy the possibilities of this day.

Happy Monday!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Most of us came back with a little runny nose and cough. For that reason, it was a pretty low key morning full of stories and building with blocks.

Rosemary and Anna worked together to get the waffle blocks out. Rosemary looked at two blocks that were different: one with a hole in the middle and one that was solid without any holes.

Hey, old friend
What d’ya say, old friend?
Are you okay, old friend?
Are we, are we unique?
Time goes by
Everything else keeps changing
You and I, we can
Continue next week.
Most friends fade
Or they don’t make the grade
New ones are quickly made
And in a pinch, sure, they’ll do.
But us, old friend
What’s to discuss, old friend?
Here’s to us, who’s like us?
Darn few.

-Stephen Sondheim

Is there anything that compares to the reunion of good friends? The Blue Bus comes close. Math FAB K. 1.5 Divide shapes into equal parts? Ummm….not even close.

Finn. Finn is in the house. And that’s all there is to say today.

WF Friday 1/16

Our environment is based upon the idea of choice. For much of the day, friends are free to move from area to area as they please. It is always interesting to see where friends choose to spend their time.

Today, some friends spent time in the back constructing a house, building with Legos and driving cars.

                        011

Other friends hung baby clothes on the clothesline in our housekeeping area, practicing opening and closing those tricky clothespins!

012

And still other friends sat at the island trying to master straw weaving, manipulating yarn over and under, over and under straws.

013

Yet no matter what area of the house we choose to play and work in we are always learning, exploring and growing.

Have a great weekend! –Jessica
