The swimmers warmed up their bodies by dancing to FROZEN and moving in and about the habitrail.
When they left for class, the remaining Wee Friends joined Jessica at the science table to ask the question: “What is your prediction?” or “What do you think will happen?”. It started with whole peppermint drops and oobleck (corn starch and water) and ended with pink oobleck and the disappearance of the candy.
Have a terrific day. –Laurie

The Christmas spirit continues to permeate Wee Friends this week! Today, friends wrapped up some special presents.
We sent and received holiday mail through our new festive mailbox.
We discovered new ways to use Santa hats.
And even constructed a Christmas tree out of books. Friends were surprised to learn that for this project we were taking ALL of the books OFF the shelves!
Lastly, here’s a helpful article as we embark upon our holiday vacay!

The waffle blocks were a big hit this morning. Friends are really working hard to put the blocks together. Maya sat, concentrated, as she worked with putting the blocks together.
A rousing game of ring-around-the-rosie was started up by Nahla.
Tate and Maya worked together to put the trains together. They shared the different blocks with one another throughout their play experience.
Rosemary and Anna took their crack at the waffle blocks during naptime. Rosemary found two blocks that were together and she used all of her strength to rip them apart.
For breakfast, children had toast with butter and cinnamon along with oranges. Lunch consisted of whole grain noodles with kidney beans, oranges, and peas. PM snack was colby jack block cheese and whole grain bunny crackers.
Have a terrific evening.
Happy Friday!
One more week until vacation! Crazy how this year has flown by.
The big blocks were a big hit this morning as friends tried to maneuver their way throughout the gross motor area.
We dealt with problem solving this morning as friends worked with the waffle blocks. While they’re still getting the hang of putting two blocks together, sometimes they have to ask, “Help!” There are many ways the blocks can fit together so it makes it interesting from kid to kid
. We all think extremely different!
We hit a wall this morning. A tired wall. A brief five minute snooze fest occurred as friends rested their bodies.
We grabbed a couple of pillows to help with the ‘rest’ process.
But…that soon passed and friends were running circles throughout the classroom!
For breakfast, children had oatmeal and banana. Lunch consisted of English muffins with turkey and melted cheese, peas, and oranges. PM snack was Colby-Jack block cheese and pretzels.
Have a terrific weekend!
There’s a lot to sort in an early childhood classroom. Not only did we sort about nine different kinds of glass beads and math “manipulatives”, we sorted out feelings, shared spaces, directions to new games, letter sequences to make words, song lyrics, felt storyboard pieces, baby dolls, tears, bumps and bruises and color schemes.
We seem always to be sorting things out. Not only a great math skill, but a great life skill.
Enjoy your weekend. – Laurie

**Just to inform parents, we did have a child leave the environment today after vomiting. We’ve heard it’s also going around Wee Friends as well! Stay healthy!
Books were read sporadically throughout the day. Children are doing an increasingly good job at reading stories to themselves. They point at the pictures throughout the story. When kids are at this developmental age, it’s often the pictures that we look at to tell us the story!
Friends shouted, “1, 2, 3!” as they jumped off the big blocks! A few of us landed on our feet while others weren’t as adventurous
.
We were very into hats this afternoon.
For breakfast, children had raisin and cinnamon bagels with butter and banana. Lunch consisted of soy butter tortillas, oranges, and cucumbers. PM snack was oranges and graham crackers.
Have a terrific night!
Today at Wee Friends we:
read books with friends,
created a “Lego Sunflower”,
hung around,
and listened to instructions,
so that we could work on a special, secret project! (shhhh)
We can’t wait to share our work with you!
Happy Wednesday.
-Jessica
