This morning friends also had the opportunity to learn Finger Knitting! We practiced pulling our strings under, over, under, over our fingers and placing bottom loops over top loops. Very engaging manual dexterity practice.

                                                  Wee Friends’ Cornucopia!

In honor of the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday, today at Wee Friends we continued our exploration of what Thanksgiving is all about. We completed our cornucopia, filled with fruits and vegetables made from paper, salt dough, and paint!

We also explored what it means to be thankful. One of our Thanksgiving themed stories this morning described being thankful as “what makes you happy.”  Friends were given the opportunity to share what makes them happy on a special Thanksgiving placemat. We worked on writing, gluing and expressing our ideas through both words and pictures.

WWF, 11/18/2014

Good Afternoon!

**With the current weather we are experiencing (even though it’s November), here is the link to the handbook. The inclement weather policy is included. If you can remember back, this week last year we were dealing with tornadoes!

https://weefriendskids.com/handbook-policies/

**Also a reminder that with the winter weather, we ask that you limit your parking time so that everyone can easily find a parking space. Since WWF closes at 5:30, please make sure that you are exiting the environment by that time. If you have questions/concerns about your child or their day, please a lot extra time for this.

For breakfast, children had Kashi and banana. Lunch consisted of cheese and ham tortillas, broccoli, and oranges/kiwi. PM snack was cheddar cheese and bunny crackers.

Have a great night!

WF Tuesday 11/18 How the Swimmers Get It Done

REMINDER:

As a reminder, we need ANNUAL shot records that are printed off from your pediatrician’s office and the deadline for this is January 5th.   (Those newly enrolled this summer/fall should already have a recent record on file.) Attached are photos from yesterday.

Wee Sprouts: Cucumbers. Breakfast: Raisin Bran and orange slices. Lunch: Melted ham and cheese on whole grain flatbread, orange slices and broccoli/carrots. Snack: Cottage Cheese and raspberries.

Here’s a photo journal of the process our swimmers use to get to and from swimming. Enjoy your day!

Winter Wonderland Instructions

Already the weather delays for public schools started TODAY!  Yikes.  The families that have signed up for Remind 101 all received a text bright and early letting you know that we having a normal opening today.  (Sorry if it’s too early for some, but others have requested as early notification as possible since they start planning their day in the wee hours.)

If you haven’t already, please sign up for text notifications as ALL weather closings and delays will be relayed through this service this winter.

Text this message: @weefr

To this number: 81010 (works like a traditional 10 digit phone number)

Also, please make drop offs and picks ups quick when the weather is bad so that the “good” parking spots remain accessible to as many families as possible.

HERE’S OUR  WEATHER POLICY

Wee Friends recognizes that delays and closings are horribly inconvenient.  However, we balance that with the safety of getting our staff to work and being able to get the street, sidewalks and stairs cleared for our clients.  Here are some general guidelines:

  • If the public schools are closed due to road conditions, plan on a MINIMUM of a 10:00 delayed opening.
  • As a general rule, we DO NOT close or delay for temperature only public school closings since our children are not bussed.  However, it doesn’t take much snow combined with frigid temperatures to make clearing sidewalks dangerous for our staff in the early hours of the morning so a delay would make sense in those instances.
  • I will announce delays/closings by 7:15 in the morning via our text service.
  • A delay may turn into a close after 7:15, if I find that our staff cannot get in to work.  Please keep in mind, it is really hard to determine how the roads will be when it is still dark and clearing has not begun.

Happy Monday!

Hope everyone had a terrific weekend!

We did a little research this morning. As we’re reading “Rumble in the Jungle”, we came across a couple animals that we weren’t too sure what sound they made. For example, the zebra and hippo! What sound do they make? We took to the internet to see if we could get our questions answered.

Through the internet, we got to listen to the sounds that these animals make. Since Thanksgiving is coming up shortly, we also researched what sound a turkey makes. Do you know that a turkey makes 14 total sounds!? For example, gobble gobble, kee kee run, cluck, tree call, and assembly call. We listened to all 14 sounds and found that they were all quite different from one another. Given our environment and following children’s leads as to what they’re interested in, we were all about the animals today!

For breakfast, children had toast with butter and cinnamon along with banana. Lunch consisted of whole grain pasta with kidney beans, peas, and banana. PM snack was whole milk yogurt and graham crackers.

Have a lovely night.
