Happy Friday!

Throughout the week, we’ve been focusing on clocks and calendars in K group and today, we focused specifically on the days of the week. We put the days of the week on the chalkboard in the order that we saw them on the calendar.

At this age, children associate days of the week with special events or something that’s important to them! “Monday’s are pasta day!” a friend shared and another friend added, “Friday’s are my gymnastics day!”

K.M.2: Understand concepts of time, including: morning, afternoon, evening, today, yesterday, tomorrow, day, week, month, and year. Understand that clocks and calendars are tools that measure time.

In PREK2, children read, ‘Room on the Broom’. Afterwards, they worked together to put the events that happened in the story in order.

The rest of our Friday was consumed with stories in the reading area, tons of art creations using markers, scissors, glue, and beads for bracelets!

Happy Friday!

Today with lower numbers, we were able to fit everyone in 2 wagons and go on a wagon ride around the block.  While on our walk, we looked for beautiful Fall colors appearing in the trees.  We saw red, yellow and orange leaves.  We also found many houses that were decorated for Fall and Halloween.  We saw lots and lots of pumpkins, both big and small. We had a great ride!

Good Afternoon!

We read, ‘Up, Up, Down’ in K group. After I said the title of the story aloud, Mack said, “Hey! Robert Munsch is the author of that book.”

Once we were done reading, I read four sentences strips and friends told me which event came first. I taped each sentence strip in the correct order and when we finished, Franklin asked, “Can we read both stories from today and yesterday to make one story?”—it ended up being a funny idea!

K.1.4: Identify and order events that take place in a sequence.

The rest of our morning was consumed with magnatiles, stories, creations at the art table, and exploration of our new playdough!

Good Afternoon.

This morning we had a great time engaging with the colorful stacking puzzle activity.

This activity has multi function learning to it. We can learn what shape we are trying to stack, we can learn the color of the shape, and we can work on understanding the sequence of how the shapes are stacked from largest to smallest. We also can incorporate utilizing our hand-eye coordination skills.

Miss Annastecia worked with our friend Adrian on making a train track. They made their track and then Adrian happily rolled his cars and trucks around their track. He was quite happy with himself.

This activity can be a great confidence booster for our little ones. When they successfully get their track pieces to fit together, the smiles are in abundance.

Happy Wednesday.

Friends really enjoyed the permanence boxes.

This activity enhances our hand-eye coordination, fine motor and color recognition skills. We take either the small balls or the circular coins and put them into their slots to watch as they roll down into the box portion. We LOVE these!!!

PA070826PA070825PA070822

We then headed into the kitchen to do an activity with leaves and glue.

We collected leaves the other day that were falling off of our beautiful shade tree in the back yard to make a leaf collage.

This activity also enhances our hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills as well as our sensory skills.

You can see our finished collages hanging on the windows throughout the classroom.

Happy Wednesday!

In K group, we’ve been focusing on identifying the order in which events happen. Today, we read ‘Stellaluna’ and after we were done, I read aloud four sentences of events that occurred within the story. Together, we worked to put them into the order in which they happened. Once we were done, a friend said, “We just made a story!”

This morning, we opened up the art table so that we could dissect a sunflower and large beans from Miss Charlotte’s garden. Friends took all of the sunflower seeds and made a bird feeder. The feeder wasn’t even outside ten minutes before a squirrel found it! Smile

Good Afternoon.

Today Miss Bekah put down some masking tape on the carpet for friends to race their cars over. There were three different patterns of tape for our little guys to race their cars over. It was a great experience and our little ones had a great time.

Good Afternoon!

First, we want to wish a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Rowan who turned 3 today! We are thrilled we could spend your special day with you!

DSCN6837

Today in K group, we started discussing calendars and clocks. We chatted about what they’re used for and after reading, ‘Croc Around The Clock’, we shared reasons why we have clocks:

“It tells us when it’s time to go to bed!”

“It tells us when it’s time to eat.”

(aka two of our favorite things apparently!)

Afterwards, we talked about the calendar that we use everyday. We always say the date aloud so today, we said, “Today is Monday, October 5th, 2020.” We identified where the days of the week, month, and year are on the calendar.

K.M.2: Understand concepts of time, including: morning, afternoon, evening, today, yesterday, tomorrow, day, week, month, and year. Understand that clocks and calendars are tools that measure time.

In PREK2, children read the book titled, ‘The Tortoise and the Hare’. They placed events into the order that they occurred!
