Good Afternoon!

Today is a bittersweet day, as two of our friends will move across the bridge to the pre-school classroom next week.  We will miss them dearly, but know that we will still be able to see and engage in play with them outside.

We began our day climbing, listening to a teacher read or looking at a book independently and engaged giving a baby a bath in the sink.

IMG_8696IMG_8698IMG_8697IMG_8700

Emily asked to listen to the song, Row, Row, Row Your Boat.  All of her friends, grabbed a big plastic block to sit in and moved their arms in the rowing motion as we listened to the song.

IMG_8702IMG_8703

We then headed into the kitchen to engage in the rice/bird seed sensory table.  We all were busy scooping and pouring with our cups into our bowls and looking for the plastic ant that was hidden in the table until we found it.

IMG_8706IMG_8715IMG_8713

We then headed outside to engage in our favorite activities.

Good Afternoon!

The art project that children explored this morning was one in which they mixed colors using a straight edge. They used four paint bottles: red, blue, yellow, and white. They made five dots of each color and once all of the dots were on their paper, they used the straight edge to mix the colors! They all turned out so unique and different because of where the dots of paint were placed on the paper—which is our favorite!

We headed outside to a gorgeous morning! Children gathered in various spots throughout the yard. A group of friends used sticks around their fire and roasted marshmallows. Yum!

Good Afternoon!

This morning several friends sat at the round table working on their fine motor, hand-eye coordination and color recognition skills as they matched the colors of the pop-up people or stacked the circles on the stacker.

IMG_8530IMG_8531IMG_8533

Miss Bekah went down into the basement and found bear stamps and three different size bear cookie cutters for us to use in paint.  We used the colors green, purple and yellow to paint with our bears to make prints.  Some of us chose to finger paint our papers first and then add the bear prints. Miss Bekah shared that our painting creations looked to her a lot like the long wavy grass in the Bear Hunt book.

IMG_8537IMG_8550IMG_8545IMG_8539IMG_8544

When we headed outside, the bikes and baby dolls were available for us.  Some of us sat our babies on our bikes to ride with us, sat them next to us on the bench or found the paint cup holes of the easel a nice place to put their feet in so they can sit.

Good Afternoon!

Before we started getting ready for water play, children spaced out throughout the environment. James and Daniel started their morning by reading a few short non-fiction stories while Nesta and Millie used the bristle blocks to build with! Millie pronounced, “I made a sailboat!”

IMG_0885IMG_0891IMG_0899

It was the perfect morning for sprinkler play! We used a circular sprinkler this morning which was brand new to our friends which created a fun and new experience!

IMG_0986IMG_1001

Millie and James warmed up in the sun by putting on a little play! Friends and teachers gathered around to see their ‘Pirate Show’.

IMG_0994IMG_1014

The sprinkler play sure gave children an appetite. Several friends flocked to the garden where they had kale pieces and had the opportunity to try a little dill from the garden!
